The crankshaft (1) comprises a crankpin (3) configured to move in a crank plane (cp) during operation, and a first and a second counterweight (5, 7) arranged on either side (S1, S2) of the crank plane (cp). The first counterweight (5) has a first outer radius (r1) measured from the rotation axis (ax) and the second counterweight (7) has a second outer radius (r2) measured from the rotation axis (ax). The first outer radius (r1) is smaller than the second outer radius (r2). The present disclosure further relates to a power unit (10), a crankcase scavenged two stroke piston engine (2), and a hand-held power tool (20).

Connecting rod for changing a compression ratio of an internal combustion engine

A connecting rod for changing a compression ratio of an internal combustion engine includes a connecting rod head, a connecting rod pin, and an interlock. The connecting rod pin is supported by an eccentric of the connecting rod at a variable distance within the connecting rod head. The connecting rod head or the connecting rod pin includes a fluid chamber and the eccentric has a projection extending into the fluid chamber. In the alternative, the eccentric delimits a fluid chamber and the connecting rod head or the eccentric has a projection extending into in the fluid chamber. A fluid pressure in the fluid chamber exerts a force on the projection to change the position of the eccentric. In a locking position, the interlock inhibits rotation of the eccentric relative to the connecting rod head and the interlock is configured to be releasable.

TRANSMISSION DEVICE OF AN ENGINE, PARTICULARLY FOR AN ENGINE WITH VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATE AND/OR VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT

transmission device, particularly for an engine with variable compression rate and/or variable displacement, includes, in a cylinder housing: a combustion piston, capable of moving in a combustion cylinder of the engine and secured to a transmission member; a gear engaging with a first rack of the transmission member and providing transmission of the movement between the combustion piston and a crankshaft of the engine; a connecting rod engaging, at a first end, with the gear and, at a second end, with the crankshaft; and a control member engaging with the gear and secured to a control piston. The combustion piston and the transmission member are slidably linked with the cylinder housing in a main direction.

An engine has a connecting rod with a big end dimensioned such that a lower face height is a function of an upper face height, a face-to-face width, and a strap height and width. First and second bearing shells are received by the big end under a specified clamp load to form a convex axial profile in response to the big end dimensions, and a crankshaft crank pin interfaces with the convex axial profile. A method of assembling a connecting rod includes inserting upper and lower bearing shells into a big end having a lower face height as a function of an upper face height, a face-to-face width, and a strap height and width, where each shell has a free state with a straight axial profile and uniform cross-section, and fastening a cap at a specified load to form a convex axial profile of the upper and lower bearing shells.
