POSITION DETECTION DEVICE

A position detection device includes a magnetic detection element that is positioned radially outside a first clutch component portion and a second clutch component portion of a dog clutch around an axis. The magnetic detection element is provided between a first magnetic flux path portion and a second magnetic flux path portion. The magnetic detection element outputs a sensor signal indicating the direction of a magnetic flux passing between the first magnetic flux path portion and the second magnetic flux path portion. The magnetic detection element outputs a sensor signal indicating a position relationship between the first clutch component portion concerning a first hole portion as well as a first tooth portion and the second clutch component portion concerning the second hole portion as well as the second tooth portion, based on changes in magnetic flux directions depending on the position relationship in a rotation direction around the axis.

High ramp angle disconnect shaft

A disconnect mechanism to disconnect an electric machine from an ancillary component includes a ramp shaft connected to a disconnect shaft of the electric machine, and connected to the ancillary component, such that when connected to the ancillary component the disconnect shaft transmits rotational energy between the electric motor and the ancillary component. The ramp shaft includes a disconnect feature. A plunger is selectably engageable with the disconnect feature to disconnect the ramp shaft from the disconnect shaft. The disconnect feature includes a drop-in window for initial engagement with the plunger, and a ramp surface extending in a circumferential direction from the drop in window at an acute angle relative to the drop in window. Engagement of the plunger with the ramp surface urges movement of the ramp shaft in an axial direction away from the disconnect shaft to disconnect the ramp shaft from the disconnect shaft.

METHOD OF DISENGAGING A CLUTCHING DEVICE AND ELECTRIC DRIVELINE
20230063948 · 2023-03-02 ·

The present document relates to a method of disengaging a clutching device. The method comprises sweeping an output torque of an electric motor drivingly connected to the clutching device such that a torque transmitted by the clutching device vanishes at least temporarily during the sweep, and disengaging the clutching device during the sweep. The present document further relates to an electric driveline for carrying out the method.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A VEHICLE DRIVETRAIN

A method for operating a vehicle drivetrain having a dog clutch and an initial phase shift identifying mode and a normal operating mode. The method includes providing a dog clutch for selective torque transmission, wherein the dog clutch has a first clutch portion with a first set of teeth and a second clutch portion with a second set of teeth, and wherein the first clutch portion is axially moveable for enabling shifting of the dog clutch between an engaged state, in which the first and second clutch portions are operable to transmit torque between first and second clutch portion via the first and second set of teeth, and a disengaged state, in which the first and second clutch portions are rotatable with respect to each.

Positive-locking clutch

A positive-locking clutch for a motor vehicle comprises a coupling element with a toothing, a rotatable counterpart element with a counterpart toothing, and an electromagnetic actuator. The coupling element can be moved by means of the electromagnetic actuator between a disengaged position and an engaged position, and wherein the toothing of the coupling element is meshed with the counterpart toothing of the counterpart element in the engaged position. Even after the engaged position of the coupling element has been fully reached, a backlash is provided between the toothing of the coupling element and the counterpart toothing of the counterpart element.

Clutch control device for 4-wheel drive vehicle

A clutch control device is provided for a four-wheel drive vehicle for transmitting drive force to the rear wheels. The clutch control device includes a dog clutch and a friction clutch, and a controller that controls the engagement and disengagement of the dog clutch and the friction clutch. In this clutch control device, when there is a request to engage the dog clutch from a disengaged state, the controller, during the engagement control of the friction clutch, first controls the engagement of the friction clutch, monitors the change gradient of the clutch rotational speed difference of the dog clutch and starts engagement of the dog clutch upon determining that the gradient of the clutch rotational speed difference is no longer decreasing.

Decoupler for engine starter

An air turbine starter for starting an engine, comprising a housing defining an inlet, an outlet, and a flow path extending between the inlet and the outlet for communicating a flow of gas there through. A turbine member is journaled within the housing and disposed within the flow path for rotatably extracting mechanical power from the flow of gas and a gear train is drivingly coupled with the turbine member. A drive shaft is operably coupled with the gear train, and a decoupler is selectively coupled to the drive shaft for decoupling the air turbine starter from the engine.

Hydraulic system with a dog clutch

In a hydraulic system with a dog clutch (23-25), a hydraulically operated dog clutch actuator is arranged to alternatively bring the dog clutch into a connect mode or a disconnect mode. The clutch actuator has a piston (27) reciprocally movable under hydraulic pressure between two end positions, corresponding to the two clutch modes. Pressurized hydraulic oil is supplied to the clutch actuator by a hydraulic power system comprising a pump (4) driven by an electric motor (3). Means are provided in the clutch actuator to decrease the hydraulic pressure acting on the piston (27) at the approaching by the piston of either of its end positions, so that a hydraulic signal is transmitted back to the hydraulic power system.

A control apparatus of a vehicle obtains information indicating a relationship between an instruction value to be provided to an actuator in accordance with a driving condition of a vehicle and a torque capacity of a clutch. The control apparatus includes a table holding unit that stores a correction table to be applied under a condition when an output torque from the engine is increasing and a correction table to be applied under a condition when an output torque from the engine is decreasing, a gear change condition determining unit that determines under which condition a gear change is executed, and a correction table update unit that updates the correction table to be applied under the determined condition based on the information indicating a relationship between a target value and an actual value of the torque capacity generated at the inertia phase.
