Method for monitoring an electromagnetically actuable brake, and vehicle having an electromagnetically actuable brake
In a method for monitoring an electromagnetically actuable brake, which has an energizable coil that interacts with a tractive electromagnet situated so as to be linearly movable, and a vehicle having an electromagnetically actuable brake, the current flowing through the coil is acquired, the acquired current value in particular being conveyed to an evaluation unit, the voltage applied at the coil is intermittently increased, and a relative position of the tractive electromagnet with respect to the coil is determined from the thereby induced current characteristic, in particular the characteristic of the current rise, it is particularly determined from the ascertained position whether the brake is in the applied state or in the released state, the tractive electromagnet in particular is arranged as a permanent magnet or has a permanent magnet.
Torque generation apparatus
A torque generation apparatus includes a magnetic disc rotatable about a rotation axis, a first yoke, a second yoke, a magnetic viscous fluid placed between the magnetic disc and the first yoke and the second yoke, a coil, and a third yoke. The coil overlaps with the magnetic disc as viewed along the rotation axis. The third yoke constitutes a magnetic path of a magnetic field generated by the coil together with the first yoke and the second yoke. The magnetic disc includes a torque increasing portion at at least one of a surface facing the first yoke and a surface facing the second yoke. The torque increasing portion is provided in an outer circumferential area of the magnetic disc in a radial direction and causes a shearing force to a cluster of the magnetic viscous fluid to become larger than that in the inner circumferential area.
Electromagnetic brake device
An electromagnetic brake device presses a pressing plate against a brake rotor along an axis via a friction material by the electromagnetic force of an electromagnetic actuator. The electromagnetic brake device includes a support member that is disposed on the opposite side of the pressing plate to the brake rotor and that is supported by a housing so as to be displaceable along the axis and non-rotatable around the axis, and a shaft member that transmits a force in the direction along the axis between the pressing plate and the support member. An electromagnetic coil and an armature of the electromagnetic actuator are spaced apart from the pressing plate between the pressing plate and the support member, the electromagnetic coil is supported by the housing, and the armature is supported by the support member.
Latch activation between members
Described herein is a system, method of use and Self Retracting Lifeline (SRL) apparatus using a system that governs a dynamic response between members causing a halt in relative motion between the members. Magnetic interactions, eddy current drag forces and centrifugal and/or inertial forces may provide various mechanisms of governing movement.
Piezoelectric braking device
A braking device including: a piezoelectric element; and a braking portion. The braking portion is configured to be fixed to a member when the piezoelectric element is in a first state, and to be slidable along the member when the piezoelectric element is in a second state. The piezoelectric element changes from one state to another state when a voltage is applied.
Elevator safety actuator
A bi-stable brake actuator is provided and includes a fixed core movable in a first direction, a coil disposed in the fixed core and configured to generate magnetic fields of opposite polarities when supplied with opposing currents, respectively, a movable core disposed to move between retracted and extended positions with respect to the fixed core and the coil in exclusively a second direction defined orthogonally with respect to the first direction and a permanent magnet assembly. The permanent magnet assembly is disposed to move between first and second positions in accordance with the coil being supplied with the opposing currents, respectively.
EDDY CURRENT DECELERATION DEVICE
An eddy current deceleration device includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor includes a hub, a rotor body, and a spoke. The spoke has neutral axes. The first neutral axis is a neutral axis when the spoke is bent in a circumferential direction of the rotor body. The first neutral axis is positioned forward in a rotating direction of the rotor with respect to a center line of the spoke in the circumferential direction. The second neutral axis is a neutral axis when the spoke is bent in an axial direction of the rotor body. The second neutral axis is positioned on a rotor body side with respect to a center line of the spoke in the axial direction.
Speed control system for road equipment
The invention involves a low speed control system and method for automatically regulating the speed of work vehicles or equipment and, more particularly, vehicles that apply, remove or modify roadways or road markings. The system includes a controller, a speed display, at least one rotary encoder or the like, and one or more Eddy current or mechanical brakes for inhibiting motion of the vehicle at the operator's control. The brakes may be pneumatic, spring operated, Eddy current, or hydraulic that are controlled in response to feedback from the at least one rotary encoder for compliance with the preset speed on the speed display. In another embodiment, a throttle control is also provided.
Systems, devices, and methods for providing actuator braking
Systems, methods, and devices for control of actuators are provided. In aspects, the systems, methods, and devices provided herein enable the generation of sharp cutoff haptic effects of both limited and extended duration. The systems, methods, and devices use open loop braking signals to generate the sharp cutoff haptic effects. The braking signals are determined based on predictions of system response made according to driving signals used to cause the haptic effects in the actuators. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Axially or radially actuated eddy current brake with integrated friction brake
A magnetic brake assembly for use with a wheel rim is described. The brake assembly includes a rotor secured to rotate with the rim and a stator secured to be rotationally stationary relative to the rotor. One of the rotor and stator has an electrically conductive body and the other of the rotor and stator has a magnetic array including a plurality of magnets configured to generate a magnetic flux. An actuator is connected to at least one of the electrically conductive body and magnetic array to selectively effect a brake mode and a non-brake mode. In the brake mode, the magnetic array induces eddy currents in the electrically conductive body to generate a magnetic braking force when the rim rotates above a threshold speed and in the non-brake mode, the induced eddy currents cause a negligible or no magnetic braking force as the rim rotates above the threshold speed.
