Balancing weights with ferromagnetic inlay
10502280 · 2019-12-10 · ·

A balancing weight for balancing a wheel of a vehicle has a body of non-ferromagnetic material providing a major portion of the balancing weight's mass and a ferromagnetic inlay for holding the balancing weight by magnetic force. The ferromagnetic inlay provides a minor portion of the balancing weight's mass. A weight applicator has a magnet for interacting with the ferromagnetic inlay of the balancing weight and holding the balancing weight.

Wheel balancing weights, and methods and devices for using same

A ballasting weight (20) having a length, width, thickness, first side, second side, top, and bottom, and a cross-sectional profile comprising a notch forming a groove (28) extending longitudinally along the length of the first side of the ballasting weight (20), wherein the groove (28) is operatively adapted so as to facilitate the automatic dispensing and/or applying of the ballasting weight (20), e.g., on the rim flange of a wheel rim adjacent to its flange lip, and a device for so dispensing and/or applying the ballasting weight.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ATTACHING A BALANCING WEIGHT TO A MOUNTING SURFACE ON AN INNER SIDE OF A WHEEL RIM

The invention relates to a device for attaching a balancing weight (2) to a mounting surface (17) on an inner side (3) of a rim dish of a wheel rim (4) and provides for a mounting head (1) to be dimensioned in such a way that it fits into the rim dish. The mounting head (1) includes a support element (5), which is radially displaceable relative to the wheel rim (4) and on which a feeler element (6) is axially movably arranged, the feeler element (6) having a convex contact surface (14) and a receptacle (12) for at least one balancing weight (2), said receptacle being oriented towards the inner side (3). The mounting head (1) is configured in such a way that the contact surface (14) may be brought into contact with a boundary surface (18) of the inner side (3), and may be displaced along said boundary surface until the balancing weight (2) comes radially into contact with the mounting surface (17).

Method and device for balancing a wheel by application of a hot-melt adhesive balancing mass

Balancing weights for a rim of a vehicle wheel are made from a balancing weight material, which comprises a hot melt adhesive based on Polyolefins or Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers filled with a volume ratio between 35% and 75% of a high-density mass material like steel particles. This balancing weight material is heated such that it becomes a ductile and adhesive material, which can adhere to the rim and applied to the rim. After cooling off a solid and fixedly attached balancing weight has been made.

Balancing weights with multi layer adhesive tape

Balancing weights for cars have an adhesive tape with at least a first tape layer and a second tape layer, for attaching the balancing weights to a rim. The first tape layer is held in close proximity to a rim by a first adhesive layer. The second tape layer is held in close proximity to the balancing weights by a second adhesive layer. The first tape layer is stiffer and less flexible than the second tape layer, the second tape layer is softer and more flexible than the first tape layer. This allows easy removal of the balancing weights from the rim by pushing a wedge shaped tool between the first tape layer and the rim.

ADDITIONAL WHEEL WEIGHT FOR A UTILITY VEHICLE

An additional wheel weight for a utility vehicle includes a weight plate and a retention member configured to be fitted to a wheel rim and on which the weight plate is guided in a longitudinally axial manner. A clamping lever closure is disposed between the weight plate and retention member. A first assembly element of the clamping lever closure is coupled to the retention member, a second assembly element of the clamping lever closure engages the weight plate in a longitudinally axial manner, and a lever mechanism is disposed between the first and second assembly elements. The lever mechanism includes a clamping element being releasably secured to the first assembly element and an actuation lever being articulated between the second assembly element and the clamping element.

Wheel balance device for a motorcycle

A wheel balance device for a motorcycle attachable to a motorcycle wheel rim. The wheel balance device includes a pedestal vertically attachable to a crown of an inner rim of the motorcycle wheel rim in a position between a pair of spokes on opposite side of the crown and having a first end attachable to the crown, a second end, an outer wall therebetween, a transverse orifice therethrough, and a longitudinal channel continuously disposed therethrough. A weight body, having an arc substantially conforming to a shape of the inner rim, is insertable through the transverse orifice and has a hole transversely disposed therethrough, which is alignable with the channel when the weight body is inserted into the transverse orifice. A fastener, which engages both the channel pedestal and the hole of the weight body, secures the weight body to the pedestal.

A wheel balancing weight has a mass body with a groove that has a groove surface recessed to a groove depth and two groove walls that oppose one another across the groove. An attachment clip has a clip portion and an attachment portion. The clip portion is configured to attach the wheel balancing weight to a vehicle wheel. The attachment portion has two side edges that are opposite one another across the attachment portion. The attachment portion is seated in the groove against the groove surface between the two groove walls. Material of the mass body adjacent each groove wall is deformed and overlies a portion of the respective side edge on the attachment portion. Each of the two side edges has a chamfered or tapered edge profile and/or the groove has two undercuts. Each undercut is formed into the groove surface and adjacent each groove wall. The chamfered or tapered edge profile is oriented such that the two side edges are angled away from the groove walls moving away from the groove surface.
