Sintered metal rod guide assembly for monotube shock absorber
A rod guide assembly for a shock absorber includes a sintered metal rod guide and a seal. The sintered metal rod guide has a seat. The seal is disposed in the seat and secured to the sintered metal rod guide with a plurality of stake holds.
Dilatant fluid based object movement control mechanism
A method for execution by a computing entity includes interpreting a fluid flow response from fluid flow sensors to produce a piston velocity and a piston position of a piston associated with a head unit device. The head unit device includes a chamber filled with a shear thickening fluid (STF) and a variable partition positioned within the chamber between the piston and a closed end of the chamber to dynamically affect volume of the chamber based on activation of the variable partition. The method further includes determining a shear force based on the piston velocity and the piston position. The method further includes determining a desired response for the STF based on the shear force, the piston velocity, and the piston position. The method further includes activating the variable partition using the desired response for the STF to adjust the volume of the chamber.
DAMPER ASSEMBLY
A damper assembly includes an outer cylinder, an inner cylinder positioned at least partially within the outer cylinder, a plunger positioned at least partially within the inner cylinder and coupled to a rod, an aperture extending through the rod, an annular piston coupled to the inner cylinder, and a valve assembly. The rod is positioned at least partially within the inner cylinder and has an outer dimension that is smaller than an inner dimension of the inner cylinder. The plunger and an interior of the inner cylinder at least partially define a first chamber. The valve assembly is in fluid communication with the first chamber and a second chamber. The annular piston extends between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, and the annular piston, an exterior surface of the inner cylinder, and the outer cylinder at least partially define the second chamber.
FLUIDIC DAMPER
The first piston body includes a first passage which has a first opening that opens to the first chamber on the coupling surface with the second piston body and extends in the axial direction, and a second passage which has a second opening on the coupling surface, extends in the axial direction and has a third opening that opens to the second chamber, the second piston body is coupled to the first piston body to prevent direct communication with the first chamber of the second opening, the second opening has an inner opening portion that opens further inward in the radial direction than the first opening, and the inner opening portion communicates with a third passage formed in the second piston body.
Shock Absorber Assembly
A shock absorber is provided having a cylinder, a piston rod, a piston body, and a valve. The cylinder is configured to receive fluid. The piston body is connected to the piston rod and is configured to reciprocate within the cylinder between a compression chamber and a rebound chamber. The valve is provided by the piston body having a fluid flow port, a valve seat, a circumferential valving element, and a spring configured to urge the valve body into the valve seat. A primary damping valve and an auxiliary damping valve are also provided.
Valve device and shock absorber
Provided is a valve device and a shock absorber that can prevent them from being in a failure state at the normal time and can freely set a passive valve even when both pressure control and passage opening/closing are performed by a solenoid valve. For this reason, the valve device includes a first passage and a second passage connected downstream of the pressure introducing passage, a solenoid valve that opens the first passage to control the upstream pressure and closes the second passage when energized, and that closes the first passage and opens the second passage when not energized, and a passive valve provided downstream of the solenoid valve in the second passage.
Shear thickening fluid enabled object movement control mechanism
A head unit device for controlling motion of an object includes shear thickening fluid (STF) and a chamber configured to contain a portion of the STF. The chamber further includes a piston compartment and an auxiliary compartment. The head unit device further includes an auxiliary bypass configured within the chamber, and a piston housed at least partially radially within the piston compartment. The chamber further includes a set of fluid flow sensors and a set of fluid manipulation emitters to control the auxiliary bypass to adjust the STF flow between the piston compartment and the auxiliary compartment to cause selection of one of a first range of shear rates or a second range of shear rates for the STF within the piston compartment.
INTERNAL FLOATING PISTON
Disclosed herein is a shock absorber comprising a cylinder, a rod, a main damping piston, the main damping piston coupled to the rod and configured for operation within the cylinder, the main damping piston configured to divide the cylinder into a compression side and a rebound side, a body cap disposed at one end of the cylinder, wherein the body cap has a second inner diameter greater than an inner diameter of the cylinder, an internal floating piston disposed within the body cap, configured to divide the body cap into a first side and a second side, and a base valve piston disposed to separate the compression side from the first side.
TELESCOPIC PASSIVE DAMPER
A damper assembly comprises a monotube damper and a twintube damper in a telescopic configuration. A first piston is connected to a rod and is slidably disposed within a first tube. A second tube and a third tube are each disposed coaxially around the monotube damper, with the third tube disposed within the second tube and defining an annular chamber therebetween. A second piston is connected to an axial end of the first tube dividing an interior of the third tube into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. The second piston defines a twintube passage providing fluid communication therethrough. A base member defines a base passage providing fluid communication between the lower chamber and the annular chamber. A seal selectively blocks fluid flow through the twintube passage or the base passage and based on an axial position of the first tube relative to the second tube.
