Shock strut service monitoring using sensors and physical strut measurement

A method for monitoring a shock strut may comprise measuring a first shock strut pressure, measuring an ambient temperature, measuring a shock strut stroke, measuring a second shock strut pressure, and determining a servicing condition of the shock strut based upon the first shock strut pressure, the ambient temperature, the shock strut stroke, and the second shock strut pressure, wherein the servicing condition indicates whether it is desirable for the shock strut to be serviced with at least one of a liquid and a gas. The first shock strut pressure and the shock strut stroke may be measured before the takeoff event with a weight of an aircraft supported by the shock strut.

Adjustable hydraulic suspension damper
11577575 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A hydraulic damper with one end connected to the body of a vehicle and a second end connected to a suspension system of a vehicle. The mechanism allows for multiple hydraulic-fluid metering valve positions to control piston resistance based on a variable pressure input using pressurized gas. The use of compressed gas to mechanically control a valve position allows changes to the piston resistance to be made quickly and to be increased or decreased as desired. The hydraulic damper features a control piston which in turn mechanically controls a valve needle within a hydraulic suspension piston. The position of the valve needle controls the damping characteristics of the suspension piston. When the control piston moves, the position of the valve needle is proportionally adjusted.

20230038683 · 2023-02-09 · ·

An encapsulated shock absorber of an aircraft undercarriage includes a sliding rod slidably mounted in a leg strut of the undercarriage and an inner cylinder extending inside the strut. The inner cylinder is fastened to the strut via a top end, and the rod slides around the inner cylinder. The inner cylinder is terminated inside the sliding rod by a diaphragm that defines an oil chamber in the shock absorber and inside the sliding rod. A mixed oil/gas chamber is located in the inner cylinder, and an expansion chamber extends between the sliding rod and the inner cylinder. A hole being made in the inner cylinder in register with the expansion chamber is connected by a pipe to a pressure sensor situated outside the strut. The pipe extends inside the inner cylinder from the hole to the top end of the inner cylinder.

ULTRASONIC MOTOR-BASED REGULATED MAGNETORHEOLOGICAL VIBRATION ISOLATOR

An ultrasonic motor-based regulated variable-damping vibration isolator, includes a base, a magnetorheological damper, and an adapter plate. The magnetorheological damper is mainly used to support and deplete the energy of vibration; the magnetorheological damper includes an upper cavity, a lower cavity, a connecting ring, a permanent magnet, orifices, a magnetic permeable ring, an ultrasonic motor and the like; a magnetorheological fluid is stored in the upper and lower cavities defined by bellows. The magnetorheological damper uses the ultrasonic motor to drive the permanent magnet to rotate to adjust the overlap ratio of the permanent magnet and the orifices, that is, to adjust the number of the orifices entering the magnetic field of the permanent magnet, so as to change the damping intensity of the damper. After rotating in place, the ultrasonic motor can be powered off and self-locked.

Torque generation apparatus

A torque generation apparatus includes a magnetic disc rotatable about a rotation axis, a first yoke, a second yoke, a magnetic viscous fluid placed between the magnetic disc and the first yoke and the second yoke, a coil, and a third yoke. The coil overlaps with the magnetic disc as viewed along the rotation axis. The third yoke constitutes a magnetic path of a magnetic field generated by the coil together with the first yoke and the second yoke. The magnetic disc includes a torque increasing portion at at least one of a surface facing the first yoke and a surface facing the second yoke. The torque increasing portion is provided in an outer circumferential area of the magnetic disc in a radial direction and causes a shearing force to a cluster of the magnetic viscous fluid to become larger than that in the inner circumferential area.
