Drivetrain layout with CVT
A drivetrain layout that includes a primary gear reduction, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), a peak torque limiting (PTL) device and a range box is provided. The primary gear reduction is operationally engaged to an output of a motor. The CVT includes a primary pulley and a secondary pulley. The primary pulley of the CVT is operationally engaged to the primary gear reduction. The primary gear reduction reduces a rotational speed of the output of the motor that is coupled to the primary pulley of the CVT. The range box is operationally engaged with the secondary pulley of the CVT. The range box is configured to coupled torque between the CVT and wheels of a vehicle. The PTL device in operational engagement between the secondary pulley of the CVT and the range box, the PTL device configured to protect the drivetrain layout from torque transients.
Systems and methods for operating a driveline system
Systems and methods for operating a driveline system are disclosed and include a step-variable transmission. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is coupled between an input source and the step-variable transmission. The CVT receives a first torque from the input source and outputs a second torque. The CVT has a plurality of planetary members in rolling contact with an inner race and an outer race. A radial distance between the planetary members and a drive-transmitting member corresponds to a transmission ratio of the CVT.
Multiple-Mode Continuously Variable Transmission
A continuously variable transmission includes four shift elements to establish three forward driving ranges and one reverse driving range. Two of the forward driving ranges utilize recirculating power flow paths in which the power transmitted through the variator is much smaller than the power transmitted by the transmission. Both variator sheaves rotate about axes that are offset from the input axis such that neither sheave is partially submerged in transmission fluid.
Three mode continuously variable transmission
A three mode continuously variable transmission (CVT) for a motor vehicle includes an optional speed change device connected to a pulley and a belt assembly or other continuously variable unit. The pulley and belt assembly is also connected to a planetary gear set arrangement. The planetary gear set arrangement generally includes two planetary gear sets, two brakes and two clutches. The planetary gear set arrangement is connected to a final drive unit. Engagement of the clutches and brakes provides three modes of operation to the CVT.
MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVETRAIN
A motor vehicle drivetrain features an input shaft, an output shaft, a continuously variable transmission for coupling the input shaft to the output shaft with a variable transmission ratio between the input shaft and the output shaft, and a bypass transmission with at least one bypass gearing, which has a fixed transmission ratio, in order to couple the input shaft to the output shaft. A value of a transmission ratio of the bypass gearing is less than or equal to half the sum of a value of the maximum forward motion and a value of the minimum forward motion of the variable transmission ratio between the input shaft and the output shaft driven of the continuously variable transmission and/or less than or equal to 1.0. The bypass transmission is configured for driving the motor vehicle with a driving speed of at least 50 km/h or 31 mph.
TORQUE INLINE HYDRAULIC PUMP FOR CVTS
A product may include a power source, and a pump may be driven by the power source. A variable load may be driven by the power source and may be supplied with a fluid from the pump. A torque splitting device may have an input from the power source and may provide an output to each of the pump and the variable load.
Continuously variable transmission including a layshaft gearset
A torque transmission device (100) includes a variator of a continuously variable unit (CVU) (20) arranged in parallel with a layshaft gearset (30). The CVU (20) includes a first pulley (22) rotatably coupled to a second pulley (24), and the layshaft gearset (30) includes a first gear element (32) meshingly engaged with an intermediate gear element (34) meshingly engaged with a second gear element (36). A transmission input member (12) is rotatably coupled to the first pulley (22) of the CVU (20), and is selectively rotatably coupled to the first gear element (32) of the layshaft gearset (30) by activation of a first clutch (37). A transmission output member (14) is rotatably coupled to the second pulley (24) of the CVU (20) and rotatably coupled to the second gear element (36) of the layshaft gearset (30). The transmission is disposed to operate in a continuously variable mode when the first clutch (37) is disengaged, and to operate in a fixed gear mode when the first clutch (37) is engaged.
Transmission and vehicle with a transmission
A transmission includes a first shaft with two gears adapted for connecting to a motor and a second shaft with two corresponding gears adapted for connecting to a driveshaft; a shift drum selectively controlling torque transfer between the shafts and defining therein two grooves; a shift rod translatable along a rod axis with a driving member fixedly connected thereto and engaging one groove, at least a portion of the groove causing the driving member and the shift rod to translate along the rod axis upon rotation of the shift drum; an engagement dog disposed on the second shaft for selectively engaging the gears of the second shaft; two biasing members disposed around the shift rod; a fork rod supporting a shift fork slidably connected to the fork rod and the shift rod, the shift fork being engaged in another groove of the shift drum.
Drive switching mechanism of utility vehicle
A drive switching mechanism of a utility vehicle includes: a two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive switching device that switches between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive of the utility vehicle; and a control unit that controls the drive switching mechanism. The two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive switching device switches between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive by using a first clutch. The control unit permits the two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive switching device to switch from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive when a rotation difference of the first clutch becomes equal to or smaller than a predetermined value.
Snowmobile having a gearbox
A snowmobile has a gearbox having a first shaft, a second shaft, first transmission gears mounted to the first shaft and second transmission gears mounted to the second shaft. A driven gear mounted to the first shaft engages a forward drive gear mounted to a countershaft. In a first configuration: the first shaft is coupled to the countershaft; when rotating, a driveshaft rotates in a same direction as the countershaft; and configurable portions of the countershaft and second shaft are free of gears. In a second configuration: the forward drive gear is in selective free-spin engagement with the countershaft; a reverse drive gear mounted to the configurable portion of the countershaft is in driving engagement with the countershaft; an actuator selectively transmits rotary motion from the countershaft to the gearbox; a reverse driven gear mounted to the configurable portion of the second shaft meshes with the reverse drive gear.
