Hybrid vehicle control device

For a hybrid vehicle including an engine, a motor generator, and a belt-type continuously variable transmission, a controller performs a low speed position return expediting control in response to a downshift request accompanying deceleration. During the low speed position return expediting control, the controller increases a differential pressure between a primary pressure and a secondary pressure and cause a downshift toward a lowest speed position transmission ratio by reducing the primary pressure, and further reduces the primary pressure when the secondary pressure becomes greater than or equal to a trigger threshold value during the downshift; and terminates the low speed position return expediting control when an actual secondary pressure decreases to a secondary pressure minimum level. The controller further sets a secondary pressure lower limit higher than the secondary pressure minimum level during the low speed position return expediting control.

Belt-type continuously variable transmission

A belt-type continuously variable transmission includes a primary pulley, a secondary pulley, and a belt wound around the primary pulley and the secondary pulley. A controller performs a process, when performing a low speed position return shift to shift a transmission ratio toward a lowermost speed position while a vehicle is decelerating. The process includes: calculating a primary pressure actual lower limit, at which the belt actually starts to slip, based on the transmission ratio and a deceleration of the vehicle; setting a lower limit of a setpoint of the primary pressure to the primary pressure actual lower limit; setting the primary pressure actual lower limit higher with a locking tendency of a vehicle wheel detected than that without the locking tendency detected; and setting the primary pressure actual lower limit with the locking tendency detected to increase as the transmission ratio varies toward the lowermost speed position.

Ratio selection method for a continuously variable transmission during deceleration by braking

A method and system for selecting a speed ratio for a continuously variable transmission (CVT) of a vehicle during braking. The method and system includes determining a Current Actual Speed Ratio of the CVT when the distance of a brake pedal travel exceeds a predetermined distance, determining, by a transmission control module (TCM), an amount of Available Speed Ratio Change (r), a Current Ratio Change Capability (Current-{dot over (r)}), and a Predictive Ratio Change Capability (Predictive-{dot over (r)}). The method further includes the TCM calculating a Time to Reach the Minimum Under-drive Ratio (t.sub.UD), calculating a Predicted Velocity of the Vehicle (v.sub.Pr) using (t.sub.UD), determining a Desired Speed Ratio of the CVT using the Predicted Velocity of the Vehicle (v.sub.Pr), and actuating the CVT to the Desired Speed Ratio.

A control apparatus for a vehicle drive-force transmitting apparatus that defines first and second drive-force transmitting paths between input and output rotary members. The second drive-force transmitting path is established by engagement of a second engagement device. The control apparatus includes an operation-state determining portion configured to determine which one of a plurality of states is established as an operation state of the second engagement device, by determining whether a plurality of transition-completion conditions, each of which is required to determine that a transition of the operation state of the second engagement device to a corresponding one of the plurality of states from another of the plurality of states has been completed, are satisfied or not, based on () a state of a hydraulic control executed to control a hydraulic pressure supplied to the second engagement device and () a rotational speed difference of the second engagement device.

In gear-shift control apparatus and method for a vehicular transmission, a variator which is interposed between an engine and driving wheels and which is capable of modifying a gear (speed) ratio continuously; a sub transmission which is installed in series with the variator and which is capable of switching a plurality of gear-shift stages through a replacement of engagement elements; and a transmission controller which performs a gear ratio control for the variator and a gear-shift stage control for the sub transmission are installed. During a deceleration through a second speed stage of the sub transmission, when the variator is a state in which the variator is at a lowest gear (speed) ratio, a down-shift in which the sub transmission is forced to perform the gear-shift from a second speed stage to a first speed stage, with the variator maintained at the lowest gear (speed) ratio.

Continuously variable transmission pump limited stop controls

A continuously variable transmission pump limited stop controls system includes a continuously variable transmission (CVT) including primary and secondary variator pulleys. The primary and the secondary variator pulley each have a mating half with a conical face, defining a variable-width gap between each pulley and its mating half. A flexible member is positioned within the gap and is movable on the conical faces defining a CVT ratio. A secondary pulley valve controls flow of a fluid to the secondary variator pulley. A secondary pulley pressure boost system identifies if a rapid stop event is occurring and issues a command to fully open the secondary pulley valve during the rapid stop event. As the CVT ratio reaches a predetermined threshold of a desired relaunch ratio during the rapid stop event, an engine speed request is issued to an engine connected to the CVT to increase engine speed.
