Offset chamfered teeth for coaxial cooperating gears in vehicle power trains

A power train component such as a gearbox includes driving and driven, coaxially arranged cooperating gears which engage each other via teeth. The engaging end surfaces of the teeth are provided with a first chamfer and a second chamfer, in which the chamfer edge is offset from bisecting the tooth. Preferably the offset chamfer edges are provided on both a driving gear (shifter), axially positionable using a shifting fork on a shift drum, and a driven low gear. In one preferred driving gear (shifter) design, the offset chamfer edges are only provided for the side engaged when the shifting fork moves against a spring force. The invention facilitates smoother and less binding movement between the non-engaged and the engaged axial positions, such that the gear can be more easily shifted by the shifting fork in at least one direction.

SHIFTING MECHANISM

A shifting mechanism that is downsized at least in an axial direction, and that can engage an engagement device without generating an engagement shock. The shifting mechanism comprises: a shift fork that reciprocates to engage and disengage the engagement device; and a drive mechanism that reciprocates the shift fork. The drive mechanism comprises: a movable member reciprocating in an axial direction with respect to the shift fork to apply the thrust force to the shift fork; and an elastic member interposed between the movable member and the shift fork. The shift fork is withdrawn from the movable member while compressing the elastic member when a force acting in a direction to prevent an engagement of the engagement mechanism is applied to the shift fork.

Shift-drum speed change operation mechanism

A fork guide groove of a drum member guides a shift fork so that a shifter member is in a reference position not engaged with first and second speed change members when the drum member is placed in a neutral position, is movable between a first speed-change position engaged with the first speed-change member and the reference position when the drum member is placed in a first operational position, and is movable between a second speed-change position engaged with the second speed-change member and the reference position when the drum member is placed in a second operational position. A slider guide groove of the drum member guides a slider member supported by a fork shaft in an axially movable manner so as not to obstruct movement of the shifter member between the reference position and the first speed-change position when the drum member is placed in the first operational position.

The laundry treatment apparatus also includes an inner tub disposed in the outer tub, a pulsator provided in the inner tub at a lower portion thereof, and a clutch assembly. The inner tub is rotated together with the spin-drying shaft and the pulsator is rotated by the washing shaft. The clutch assembly selects one of a plurality of modes including i) at least one restriction mode of restricting the spin-drying shaft to the rotor or the outer tub and ii) a free mode of not restricting the spin-drying shaft to the rotor and the outer tub.

SHIFTING MECHANISM

A shifting mechanism a shifting mechanism in which a movable member integrated with an engagement pin will not be rotated by a friction acting between a cam groove and the engagement pin. A shifting mechanism comprises: a shift drum that on which a cam groove is formed; a cam sleeve having an engagement pin inserted into the cam groove; a fork shaft reciprocated between predetermined positions by rotating the shift drum; a support stem extending parallel to a center axis of the cam sleeve; and a projection formed integrally with the cam sleeve to come into contact with the support stem when the cam sleeve is rotated.
