SELECTOR LEVER ASSEMBLY FOR SELECTING AND SWITCHING DIFFERENT DRIVING MODES IN A VEHICLE TRANSMISSION

A selector lever assembly for selecting and shifting to various driving modes in a vehicle transmission may include a rotary knob that is connected to a shaft element supported in a housing, where the driving modes are assigned to the rotational range of the shaft element, and separated from one another by a latching contour that can be felt by a driver, and where the rotation of the shaft element can be blocked by a locking contour, and where the shaft element is connected to a disk element for conjoint rotation, but can be displaced axially in order to activate and deactivate at least one further function mode.

An embodiment method of operating a vehicle comprises detecting a first position of a shift lever, determining whether the first position of the shift lever is in a normal state or an abnormal state, and, in response to the first position of the shift lever being in the abnormal state, moving a detent portion of a housing relative to a contact portion of the shift lever in accordance with pre-stored position data.

Motor vehicle

The motor vehicle is configured to recognize a shift position in response to the user's shift operation of a shift lever and to control a driving system, based on the shift position and the user's accelerator operation, brake operation and steering operation. On occurrence of a predetermined abnormality that causes a failure in recognizing the shift position, the motor vehicle sets an abnormality-time shift position based on vehicle peripheral information and notifies the abnormality-time shift position. When a moving direction is set by a moving direction setting unit that is provided separately from the shift lever and that allows the user to set the moving direction, the motor vehicle resets the abnormality-time shift position based on the moving direction, and controls the driving system, based on the abnormality-time shift position, the brake operation and the steering operation.

VEHICLE PARK-LOCK CONTROL METHOD AND PARK-LOCK CONTROL DEVICE

A vehicle park lock control method is presented with range positions including a P-range position and an N-range position in each of which a driving force is prevented from being transmitted to a driving wheel of a vehicle. A park lock mechanism is activated when in the P-range position. An operator is allowed to select whether or not to cause the park lock mechanism to be activated in response to key-off operation when in the N-range position. In response to continuous shifting of a range selector to one or more specific ones of the range positions, the park lock mechanism is prevented from being activated in response to key-off operation when in the N-range position.

SHIFTING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

A shifting device in which a selected shift position can be confirmed easily, and which can be fitted easily in vehicles. The shifting device comprises: a restriction member that restricts a movement of a shift lever into a predetermined shift slot in a first shifting mode, and that cancels the restriction of the movement of the shift lever in a second shifting mode; and an indicator that indicates a first pattern when the first shifting mode is selected, and that indicates a second pattern when the second shifting mode is selected.

A gear seeking shifter including a housing containing a shift lever with a rotatable base and outer tube supporting a depressible inner push rod. A CAM shaft component is driven by a gear seeking motor. An upwardly biased gate pawl located in the inner push rod contacts with any of PRND shifter position gates configured along an opposing underside of the housing. At least one detent cartridge contains a pawl supported within the rotatable base of the shift lever in biasing contact with a detent plate profile configured upon an opposing inside surface of the housing. The CAM shaft component, upon being rotated by the motor, includes each of a first profile for retracting the gate pawl and a second profile for inwardly displacing the detent pawl away from the detent plate profile to permit the CAM component to rotate the shift lever to a desired gear position.

Position detection device

A position detection device includes two detection systems that are respectively fed from power supply systems different from each other, and displace together with a shift lever. Each detection system can output detection patterns with four digits. A detection pattern when being located at a given position is different from a detection pattern when being located at another position. In any detection pattern, outputs of certain two digits among the four digits are set so as to be identical to each other, and to be different from outputs of two other digits. Alternatively, outputs of certain three digits among the four digits are set to be identical to each other, and to be different from an output of another digit.

A motor angle calculation unit acquires from a motor rotation angle sensor a motor rotation angle signal corresponding to a rotational position of the motor, and calculates a motor angle based on the motor rotation angle signal. An output shaft signal acquisition unit acquires, from an output shaft sensor that detects a rotational position of an output shaft, an output shaft signal corresponding to the rotational position of an output shaft. An abnormality determination unit determines abnormality in the output shaft sensor. A target angle setting unit sets a target rotation angle corresponding to a target shift range. A drive control unit controls driving of the motor so that the motor angle becomes a target rotation angle. The target angle setting unit sets the target rotation angle to different values when the output shaft sensor is normal and when the output shaft sensor is abnormal.
