Quickshifter-equipped vehicle control unit and quickshifter-equipped motorcycle
A quickshifter-equipped vehicle control unit includes an engine speed calculator configured to calculate an engine speed and a shift controller configured to operate in a quick shift mode and in a normal shift mode. The quick shift mode is a mode in which upon detection of the shift operation, the shift controller adjusts an output of an engine while keeping a main clutch in an engaged state, and the normal shift mode is a mode in which upon detection of the shift operation, the shift controller controls a clutch actuator to bring the main clutch into a disengaged state. The shift controller selects the quick shift mode when the engine speed is higher than a predetermined rotational speed threshold, and selects the normal shift mode when the engine speed is lower than the rotational speed threshold.
MINIMIZING ENGINE PULL-UPS AND GEAR SHIFTS IN A HYBRID VEHICLE
A hybrid vehicle includes powertrain components such as an engine, an automatic transmission, and a traction motor selectively coupled to the engine via a clutch and to the transmission. At least one controller is programmed to control these powertrain components. The vehicle is driven over a drive cycle that includes multiple engine starts and transmission gear shifts. An amount of fuel consumption used during these engine starts and transmissions gear shifts is stored on an on-board storage device. Subsequently, the engine is inhibited from starting and the transmission is inhibited from shifting gears based on the amount of fuel consumption associated with the engine starts and transmission gear shifts performed during the drive cycle as recalled from the storage device.

System and method for improving cylinder deactivation
Systems and methods for operating an engine with deactivating and non-deactivating valves are presented. In one example, estimates of engine fuel consumption for operating the engine with a plurality of cylinder modes or patterns while a transmission is engaged in different gears are determined and are used as a basis for deactivating engine cylinders.

Vehicle control device
In a case where a vehicle is in a first mode in which suppression of fuel consumption is prioritized, a forward gear stage selection unit selects as a forward gear stage a gear stage at which a minimum travelable vehicle speed, which is a minimum speed among a speed of the vehicle at which a driving force indicated by a driving force characteristic is equal to or greater than a travel resistance of a travel resistance characteristic, is highest, and in a case where the vehicle is in a second mode in which improvement of travel performance is prioritized, the forward gear stage selection unit selects as the forward gear stage a gear stage at which a maximum travelable vehicle speed, which is a maximum speed among the speed of the vehicle at which the driving force is equal to or greater than the travel resistance, is highest.
In-vehicle control device
An in-vehicle control device carries out fuel cut-off for stopping fuel injection from a fuel injection valve when a prescribed fuel cut-off condition including that a lockup clutch with which a torque converter is equipped is engaged and that an accelerator is off is fulfilled. Besides, the in-vehicle control device performs a fuel cut-off suspension process for carrying out fuel injection from the fuel injection valve and releasing the lockup clutch when there is a request to suspend fuel cut-off with the accelerator off. Also, the in-vehicle control device performs a speed increase process for performing shift control of an automatic transmission such that the rotational speed of a turbine impeller with which the torque converter is equipped becomes higher while the fuel cut-off suspension process is performed than when fuel cut-off is carried out.

Fuel economy enhanced transmission manual/hold mode and low mode
A method of controlling an automated manual transmission system having a transmission and a shifter is provided. The shifter includes a Drive Mode, a Low Mode and at least one of a Manual Mode and a Hold Mold. The Drive Mode automatically selects a default gear of the transmission and automatically performs all upshifts and downshifts. The Manual Mode permits an operator to manually select an upshift and a downshift of the transmission. The Hold Mode permits an operator to maintain a current operating gear. Control determines whether the shifter is in one of the Manual Mode and the Hold Mode. Control determines whether a vehicle operating condition is outside of a predetermined threshold. Control operates the transmission in Drive Mode based on the vehicle operating condition being outside of the predetermined threshold irrespective of the shifter being in one of the Low Mode, Manual Mode or Hold Modes.
