Seal

A longitudinal translatable seal includes a first compartment extending in a longitudinal direction; a second compartment extending in the longitudinal direction forming a sealing surface with the first compartment; and a carriage translatable longitudinally with respect to the sealing surface, and a port in the carriage to fluidly connect a first side of the seal with a second side of the seal.

A seal structure includes an insertion path which connects between a first opening and a second opening and through which a longitudinal member is inserted; and a seal part, formed at the intermediate section of the insertion path, which contacts with the outer circumference of the inserted longitudinal member. A discharge path is provided on a side wall section of the insertion path, and connects from the side surface of the side wall section to a section, of the insertion path, which is closer to an inflow opening through which flowing water is likely to flow than the seal part is to the inflow opening. The discharge path is structured in communication with a gap, formed between the outer circumference of the longitudinal member and the inner surface of the insertion path, which allows for inflow of flowing water along the direction in which the longitudinal member is inserted

A device to provide a seal between a housing for a moving element such as a drill chain, piston or the like and the moving element. The device comprising a storage well to retain seal material, the block having an outlet connecting with an aperture in a housing enabling seal material to flow into the space between a housing and the moving element and form a seal, the device further including an inlet port enabling seal material precursor to be added into the block, and pressurising means to pressurise the seal material precursor and force it out of the aperture.

Bushing shield for fire detection

A bushing shield is used primarily but not exclusively in a commercial kitchen fire suppression system where pipes and EMT (electric metallic tube) carry detection line cables from a fusible link to a detection control. The bushing shield includes a guide bushing and a vapor barrier. The bushing shield minimizes grease vapors and foreign contaminant migration into a pipe or EMT of the commercial kitchen fire suppression system by forming a barrier, while simultaneously allowing the detection line cable to slide back and forth as intended by the fire suppression system manufacturer.

Sealing assemblies with rolling annular seals are provided. In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a stuffing box having a rolling seal positioned in a body for sealing against a tubing or wireline cable received in a bore of the body. The rolling seal can rotate within the body to roll along the tubing or wireline cable in response to movement of the tubing or wireline cable through the body and friction between the rolling seal and the tubing or wireline cable. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

Oil slinger with convective cooling of radial surface

Oil slinger systems include a seal runner comprising an annular radial member having a radius (R) and an outer axially extending member having an axial length (L) such that a ratio (L/R) is between 0.8 and 1.4, the annular radial member disposed at a first angle with respect to the outer axially extending member, a heat shield in mechanical communication with the seal runner, and a volume bounded by an outer face of the annular radial member and an inner face of the heat shield. Methods of radial convective cooling include pumping a cooling liquid through the oil slinger system and convectively cooling the oil slinger.
