Chemical sequestration of wellbore fluids in electric submersible pump systems
An electric submersible pump includes a pump, an electric motor that is coupled to the pump by a rotatable shaft, a seal section that is positioned between the pump and the electric motor. The seal section contains an additive and a motor oil for the electric motor. The additive includes one or more superabsorbent polymers or imidate salts to contact the motor oil and to react with a wellbore fluid from a wellbore to prevent premature failure of the electric submersible pump from the wellbore fluid contamination of the motor oil.
SOLID PLATE AND STUFFING BOX COMPRISING THE SOLID PLATE
The present invention relates to a stuffing box assembly comprising a stuffing box and a solid plate, the solid plate may be placed at the shaft introducing end of the stuffing box, between the stuffing box and a surface, when the stuffing box assembly is mounted on to the surface, the solid plate may be on a first side provided with a pressure plate flange and on a second side be provided with a counter pressure plate flange, wherein the pressure plate flange and/or the counter pressure plate flange is provided with one or more locking projections pointing towards the solid plate.
Butterfly valve seal retaining arrangement
A butterfly valve seal arrangement in a butterfly valve having a cylindrical flow channel with a wall includes a seal flange, an elastomeric seal, a seal channel, and an annular seal retaining ring. The seal flange extends into the cylindrical flow channel from the wall of the cylindrical flow channel. The seal channel is recessed into the wall of the cylindrical flow channel adjacent to the seal flange. And the annular seal retaining ring includes tabs extending into the seal channel which hold the annular seal retaining ring in the cylindrical flow channel. An elastomeric seal is held in compression in the seal channel and against the seal flange by the annular seal retaining ring, and extends into the cylindrical flow channel forming a seal surface held in compression against a vane seat of a vane in a position perpendicular to a direction of flow.
Rotary seals
A rotary seal comprising: a shaft with a chromium oxide coating provided at a seal contact area; wherein said coating has a hardness of at least 55 Rockwell-C. The coating may have a surface roughness parameter (Ra) of between 0.2 and 0.4 circular. The coating may have a thickness of at least 0.1 mm. The coating layer forms part of a rotary seal with a flexible seal element that is biased into contact with the surface of the coating. The flexible seal element may be biased against the shaft by a spring to increase the pressure of the flexible seal element against the coating. The coating is preferably deposited by a plasma spray process.
SEALING STRUCTURE
A sealing structure is provided to suppress the generation of a space between an inner peripheral surface of a shaft hole and an outer peripheral surface of a seal ring. The sealing structure is a sealing device to seal an annular space between a shaft and a shaft hole into which the shaft is inserted. The sealing structure includes an annular seal ring around an axis line x attached to a groove of the shaft, and a locked portion formed on a bottom surface of the groove of the shaft. The seal ring has a locking portion formed on an inner peripheral surface. The locking portion and the locked portion are formed so as to be lockable with each other and formed such that the seal ring is pressed toward an outer periphery side when the locking portion and the locked portion are locked with each other.
CHEMICAL SEQUESTRATION OF WELLBORE FLUIDS IN ELECTRIC SUBMERSIBLE PUMP SYSTEMS
An electric submersible pump includes a pump, an electric motor that is coupled to the pump by a rotatable shaft, a seal section that is positioned between the pump and the electric motor. The seal section contains an additive and a motor oil for the electric motor. The additive includes one or more superabsorbent polymers or imidate salts to contact the motor oil and to react with a wellbore fluid from a wellbore to prevent premature failure of the electric submersible pump from the wellbore fluid contamination of the motor oil.
HYDRAULIC CYLINDER BUFFER SEAL BACKUP RING
A seal assembly for a hydraulic cylinder piston rod of a hydraulic cylinder includes an annular buffer seal and an annular backup ring. A first axial pressure side of the annular buffer ring faces a rod end chamber of the hydraulic cylinder and fits adjacent a first axial side surface of an annular groove defined in a rod end of the hydraulic cylinder through which the piston rod passes, and a second axial seal side opposite from the first axial pressure side includes a radially outer annular seal surface and a radially inner annular seal surface, wherein the radially outer annular seal surface is spaced farther from the first axial pressure side of the annular buffer seal than the radially inner annular seal surface of the buffer seal such that an annular notch is formed around an inner diameter of the annular buffer seal on the second axial seal side of the annular buffer seal. The annular backup ring includes a radially extending leg portion that extends along substantially an entire radial extent of the radially outer annular seal surface of the annular buffer seal, and an axially extending leg portion that extends axially into the annular notch formed around the inner diameter of the annular buffer seal on the second axial seal side of the annular buffer seal.
Polymer seal assembly
A seal assembly includes a seal body, a spring disposed adjacent to the seal body, and a seal ring disposed adjacent to the seal body. The seal body and the seal ring can include a plastic polymer material. The seal assembly can be a subcomponent of hydraulic strut in the landing gear of an aircraft.
Moveable Seal Point Packing System
A packing assembly providing a seal point configurable at multiple locations. The packing assembly includes a soft bed having at least one energizing ring and at least one seal ring. The assembly includes a spacer ring sealable with the at least one energizing ring. The assembly further includes at 1=least one adapter ring abutting either end of the soft bed to provide two seal locations relative to the spacer ring.
SEAL RING
A circular annular seal ring made from a resin is adapted to be disposed between an outer member and an inner member that rotate relative to each other. The seal ring is disposed in a circumferential groove of the outer member or the inner member to isolate a liquid space from an external space. The seal ring is formed from an elongated and arcuate rod to define a circle by joining ends of the rod, and has a junction formed from the ends. The seal ring has a radial thickness gradually decreasing from two points that are apart from the junction toward the junction. The points are separated from the junction by an angle of not less than 60 degrees and not more than 150 degrees about a central axis of the circle.
