The method further comprises curing the first elastomer layer. Additionally, one or more additional elastomer layers of the LSI device are formed with the first elastomer layer according to the specified manufacturing process, the one or more additional elastomer layers having a plurality of fluid based circuits, the one or more additional elastomer layers adhering to the plurality of formation specifications.
MINIATURE PNEUMATIC DEVICE
A miniature pneumatic device includes a miniature fluid control device and a miniature valve device. The miniature fluid control device includes a gas inlet plate, a resonance plate, a piezoelectric actuator and a gas collecting plate. A first chamber is formed between the resonance plate and the piezoelectric actuator. After a gas is fed into the gas inlet plate, the gas is transferred to the first chamber through the resonance plate and then transferred downwardly. Consequently, a pressure gradient is generated to continuously push the gas. The miniature valve device includes a valve plate and a gas outlet plate. After the gas is transferred from the miniature fluid control device to the miniature valve device, the valve opening of the valve plate is correspondingly opened or closed and the gas is transferred in one direction. Consequently, a pressure-collecting operation or a pressure-releasing operation is selectively performed.
MINIATURE FLUID CONTROL DEVICE
A miniature fluid control device includes a gas inlet plate, a resonance plate and a piezoelectric actuator. The gas inlet plate includes at least one inlet, at least one convergence channel and a central cavity. A convergence chamber is defined by the central cavity. The resonance plate has a central aperture. The piezoelectric actuator includes a suspension plate, an outer frame and a piezoelectric ceramic plate. A gap is formed between the resonance plate and the piezoelectric actuator to define a first chamber. When the piezoelectric actuator is driven and after the gas is fed into the miniature fluid control device through the inlet of the gas inlet plate, the gas is sequentially converged to the central cavity through the convergence channel, transferred through the central aperture of the resonance plate, introduced into the first chamber, transferred downwardly through the piezoelectric actuator, and exited from the miniature fluid control device.
WEARABLE GLOVES INCLUDING A FABRIC MATERIAL WORN BY A USER, A POSITION SENSOR, AND A MATRIX WITH A PLURALITY OF VOIDS THAT EACH INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE FLUIDIC ACTUATOR
A wearable glove for interacting with virtual objects is described herein. An example wearable glove includes a fabric material to be worn on a user's hand. The wearable glove also includes a matrix made of an elastic polymer, the matrix including a plurality of voids, each respective void (i) including at least one fluidic actuator and (ii) not being fluidically coupled with a positionally adjacent void. The wearable glove additionally includes a non-fluidic actuator configured to restrict movement of one of the user's digits; and one or more position sensors for monitoring positional data used to a determine a position of the wearable glove within a three-dimensional space. The wearable device can control the at least one fluidic actuator and the at least one non-fluidic actuator to simulate real-world interactions in the artificial-reality environment based on the position of the wearable device as compared to respective positions of virtual objects.
Passive microfluidic valves
A passive microfluidic valve includes a first manifold portion having a first chamber; a first inlet fluidly coupled to the first chamber; and a second inlet. The valve also includes a second manifold portion in fluid communication with the first chamber via a channel. The second manifold portion includes a second chamber fluidly coupled to the first chamber and the second inlet. The valve further includes a flexible membrane disposed between the first manifold portion and the second manifold portion and separating the first chamber and the second chamber, the flexible membrane configured to modulate a flow rate of a media flowing between the first inlet and the second inlet in either direction in response to pressure of the media flow.
PASSIVE MICROFLUIDIC VALVES
A passive microfluidic valve includes a first manifold portion having a first chamber; a first inlet fluidly coupled to the first chamber; and a second inlet. The valve also includes a second manifold portion in fluid communication with the first chamber via a channel. The second manifold portion includes a second chamber fluidly coupled to the first chamber and the second inlet. The valve further includes a flexible membrane disposed between the first manifold portion and the second manifold portion and separating the first chamber and the second chamber, the flexible membrane configured to modulate a flow rate of a media flowing between the first inlet and the second inlet in either direction in response to pressure of the media flow.

Three-way microvalve device and method of fabrication
A three-way (3-way) Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS)-based micro-valve device and method of fabrication for the implementation of a three-way MEMS-based micro-valve are disclosed. The micro-valve device has a wide range of applications, including medical, industrial control, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics and products, as well as any application(s) requiring the use of three-way micro-valves for the control of fluids. The discloses three-way micro-valve device and method of fabrication that can be tailored to the requirements of a wide range of applications and fluid types, and can also use a number of different actuation methods, including actuation methods that have very small actuation pressures and energy densities even at higher fluidic pressures. This is enabled by a novel pressure-balancing scheme, wherein the fluid pressure balances the actuator mechanism so that only a small amount of actuation pressure (or force) is needed to switch the state of the actuator and device from open to closed, or closed to open.
Temperature-actuated valve, fluidic device, and related methods of use
Temperature-actuated valves, devices including temperature-actuated valves, and related methods are described. In an embodiment, the temperature-actuated valve includes a heat-shrink film defining a perforation extending at least partially in a first direction. In an embodiment, the temperature-actuated valve is configured to open when a portion of the heat-shrink film including the perforation is heated above a threshold temperature to contract the heat-shrink film along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction to define an aperture, in an open configuration, providing a fluid a path through the heat-shrink film. In an embodiment, the temperature-actuated valve includes a leakage-mitigation feature configured to limit fluid flow through the perforation when the valve is in a closed configuration.
