VALVE

A valve for use with breathing assistance apparatus comprises first, second and third ports (21, 22, 23) for respective connection to a patient breathing tube, a first ventilation apparatus and a second ventilation application. The valve includes a bistable valve mechanism having a first stable configuration in which the first port is in fluid communication with the second port and not the third port; and a second stable configuration in which the first port is in fluid communication with the third port and not the second port. The valve has an actuator configured to transition the bistable valve mechanism between the two stable configurations and preventing the valve mechanism from maintaining a stable intermediate position between the first and second stable configurations. In this way a patient may be switched from one ventilation apparatus to another ventilation apparatus without sudden loss of pressure in the disconnecting circuit causing potentially infected aerosols to be released, and the without sudden loss of positive end expiratory pressure to the patients lungs.

Ball valves, methods to close a ball valve, and methods to form a well barrier

Ball valves, methods to close a ball valve, and methods to form a well barrier are discussed. A ball valve includes a valve housing and a ball that is rotatably movable from an open position to a closed position. The ball valve also includes an actuation mechanism operable to rotate the ball from the open position to the closed position, where a fluid passage of the ball is not aligned with a fluid passage of the valve housing while the ball is in the closed position. The ball valve further includes a sleeve disposed in the valve housing and operable to shift from a first position to a second position to actuate the actuation mechanism.

Fluid supply system having shutoff valve with stabilized electrical valve actuator

A fluid supply system for a machine such as an internal combustion engine includes a shutoff valve having an electrical actuator that includes a solenoid subassembly, and a stabilizer for the electrical valve actuator. The stabilizer includes a fitting structured to couple the shutoff valve to adjacent hardware in the fluid supply system, and a strongarm extending between the fitting and the solenoid assembly and clamped to the solenoid subassembly. A vibration-damping reinforced grommet may be clamped between the solenoid subassembly and the clamp.

SHUTTLE VALVE POPPET MECHANISM

An apparatus for directing fluid flow is disclosed, including a valve structure having a chamber, a main port, a first port, and a second port, each of the ports being connected to the chamber. A poppet structure in the chamber is moveable between a first position blocking the first port and a second position blocking the second port. A first compliant member connecting the poppet structure to an inner wall of the chamber, is configured to alternate application of forces to the poppet structure, in opposite directions, between the first and second positions.

Self-Contained Hydraulically Controlled Relief Valve

The present disclosure provides a hydraulically controlled pressure relief valve without needing a hydraulic power unit. The valve maintains the accuracy of a hydraulically controlled valve by providing a self-contained closed hydraulic system built into the pressure relief valve. For safety, the valve can be kept open to call attention to the cause of the pressure relief valve activation, yet be easily reinstated into full service without replacing expendable components such as shear pins and rupture pins. The invention offers a pressure relief valve with accuracy, cost, and ease of use.

Actuator assembly for a fluid control device

A fluid control device includes a body having an inlet, an outlet, and a fluid flow path between the inlet and the outlet, a seat, and a control element that is coupled to a stem. The control element and the stem are movable along a first axis and biased toward a closed position in which the control element engages the seat. The fluid control device includes an actuator assembly including a shaft that is operatively coupled to the stem via a Scotch yoke mechanism such that rotation of the shaft in a first rotational direction causes movement of the stem and control element along the first axis in a first translational direction. The actuator assembly includes a trigger mechanism that is responsive to fluid pressure and prevents rotation of the shaft in a first mode of operation and releases the shaft to allow rotation in a second mode of operation.

Pressure relief device

A pressure relief valve configured to vent a pressurized tank in the event of a fire is provided. The pressure relief valve includes a body, a vent passage, a plug and a latch. The vent passage is disposed through the body. The vent passage can be placed in fluid communication with an internal volume of a tank and with the atmosphere. The plug is moveably mounted in the vent passage. The latch has a blocking member disposed in contact with a control end of the plug in a first configuration and out of contact with the control end in a second configuration. The second configuration allows movement of the plug in the vent passage. One or both of a shape memory alloy wire and a trigger piston is configured to actuate the latch from the first to the second configuration. The shape memory alloy wire is configured to shorten when exposed to a temperature above a threshold temperature. The trigger piston moves, e.g., by a pressurized gas, in a trigger actuation passage to actuate the latch from the first configuration to the second configuration.

Pneumatic damper for piston used in pressure regulator

A valve includes a valve housing body extending along a central longitudinal axis (X) between a first end and a second end. The valve housing comprises a first chamber at said first end comprising a gas inlet for receiving a gas and a second chamber at said second end having a plug provided at said second end, and an inter-chamber passageway connecting said first chamber to said second chamber. The valve further comprises a gas outlet provided in said inter-chamber passageway, and a piston provided in said inter-chamber passageway. The piston is movable between a first position wherein said outlet is blocked by said piston and a second position wherein said outlet is not blocked by said piston.
