11578817 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A method for laying a pipeline on the bed of a body of water comprises assembling a pipeline on a laying vessel; launching the pipeline from the laying vessel; identifying a zone of the bed of the body of water that causes stresses greater than a threshold value determined for the pipeline; progressively laying the pipeline on the bed of the body of water by advancing the laying vessel; and making, through controlled plastic deformation, at least one curved section along the pipeline with a curvature concordant with the curvature assumed by the pipeline in proximity to said zone, when the pipeline is at least partly laid on the bed of the body of water and partly suspended with respect to the bed of the body of water in proximity to said zone.

Seafloor pipeline removal system and method

The present invention relates to a system and method for uncovering and removing pipeline from the seafloor using a subsea trenching system using pressurized water to uncover pipe, a subsea shear carried by a barge to cut lengths of the pipeline, and a grapple carried by a barge to lift cut lengths of pipeline for placement on a pipe haul and recovery barge.

BENDING RESTRICTOR ASSEMBLY FOR PERMANENTLY BENDING AND RESTRAINING OVALITY OF A SUBSEA PIPE
20180010712 · 2018-01-11 ·

A bending restrictor assembly has a pipeline section, a first overlying pipe section having a wall overlying a portion of the pipeline section at one end thereof, a second overlying pipe section having a wall overlying another portion of the pipeline section at an opposite end thereof, and a plurality of cylindrical members overlying the pipeline section between the first and second overlying pipe sections. The first and second overlying pipe sections extend outwardly beyond the respective ends of the pipeline section. The bending restrictor assembly achieves a permanent bend and restricts ovality of a subsea pipe.

Subsea riser systems

A pliant link to mitigate fatigue-inducing motion of a subsea catenary riser has an articulated spine having a longitudinal series of interconnected rigid segments. The spine can be coupled to upper and lower sections of the riser to transmit loads along the riser through the link on a load path that extends through the segments. The link also has a pliant pipe terminating in end fittings that can be joined, respectively, to the upper and lower sections of the riser for fluid communication along the riser through the link.

Sliding Subsea Foundations

A sliding subsea foundation comprises a polymeric shoe layer on the underside of a mudmat or subsea structure. The shoe layer defines a soil-engaging face that comprises an array of parallel grooves. The grooves are shallower than the thickness of the shoe layer such that each groove has a closed top, defined by and integral with the shoe layer, that spans the groove. Where a subsea structure is supported on the foundation with a subsea pipeline attached to the structure, the grooves are substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the pipeline.

Method for vibration damping of and vibration damper assembly for semi-submerged or submerged structure

Method for vibration damping of and vibration damper assembly for semi-submerged or submerged structure, based on separating hydrodynamic added mass from the semi-submerged or submerged structure by means of a vibration damper assembly exhibiting spring and/or damper properties and use the hydrodynamic added mass as a reaction mass in the vibration damper assembly.

CLADDING

A cladding (10) for an elongate member to be deployed underwater includes multiple cladding sections (12, 26) each being configured to receive the elongate member and each having proximal and distal ends configured to engage with longitudinally neighbouring cladding sections (12, 26) enabling a continuous length of the cladding to be constructed from multiple cladding sections. At least one of the cladding sections is provided with a sensor module dock (28) configured to receive and releasably mount a sensor module (30) to the cladding.

Apparatus for locating elongate object in a trench in a floor of a body of water

An apparatus for locating an elongate object in the seabed is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a body and a pair of jetting swords arranged on lateral sides of the elongate object to form a trench in the seabed. Chain cutters arranged on lateral sides of the elongate object cut respective parts of a trench in the seabed and are moveable relative to the body between a stowed position and a deployed position, independently of the jetting swords.

Wave Powered One Way Fluid Flow Generator

A flexible pipe having one way fluidic flow valves containing a working fluid that generates one way fluid flow to power a generator. Preferably the pipe is buoyant or otherwise flexed by motion of any supporting or surrounding liquid, so that waves in the liquid flex the pipe. Preferably an added interior pumping arm is provided to increase the fluid flow from flexing.

Installing subsea risers
11598156 · 2023-03-07 · ·

A subsea riser is installed by lowering at least one riser conduit to the seabed when piggybacked to an elongate support that comprises at least one flowline. The elongate support may be a pipeline bundle, which may be attached to one or more towheads in a towable bundle unit. The riser conduit may be in fluid communication with the flowline. At the seabed, a free end portion of the riser conduit is detached from the elongate support by releasing subsea-releasable fastenings. Then, with the elongate support and a root end of the riser remaining at the seabed, the detached free end portion of the riser conduit is lifted away from the elongate support to a riser support, such as a platform, an FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading vessel), or a buoy.
