The invention relates to a system (10) for curing and/or inspecting a pipeline lining (30) positioned in a pipeline (20), the pipeline lining (30) comprising an outer plastics material layer and an inner fiber composite layer, the fiber composite layer comprising a plastics material which is to be cured and/or which is at least partially cured. In accordance with the invention, the system (10) comprises at least one high-frequency unit (40) which comprises at least one microwave-generator unit (41) and at least one microwave-transmitting antenna (42) for curing a plastics material which is to be cured, at least the at least one microwave-transmitting antenna (42) being movable in the pipeline (20) by means of a transporting device (60).
METHOD FOR PREVENTING SPILLS RESULTING FROM PIPELINE FAILURES
A petroleum pipeline safety system for preventing contamination of an environmentally sensitive area close to a pipeline is provided. The system includes a first portion of the pipeline including an upstream portion of the pipeline supplying a flow of fluid material and a flow restriction downstream of the first portion of the pipeline. The system further includes a second portion of the pipeline downstream of the flow restriction, receiving the flow of fluid material from the first portion and conveying the flow of fluid material through the environmentally sensitive area to a downstream portion of the pipeline. The flow restriction is configured to create a lower pipeline internal pressure within the second portion as compared to a pipeline internal pressure within the first portion. The system further includes a third portion of the pipeline downstream of the environmentally sensitive area and including the downstream portion of the pipeline.
Compositions and methods for corrosion inhibitor monitoring
Graphene quantum dots are functionalized by covalently bonding a corrosion inhibitor molecule thereto. In a useful method, a corrosion inhibitor compound is blended with a graphene quantum dot-tagged corrosion inhibitor compound, and the blend is applied to a metal surface, such as the interior of a carbon steel pipe. The blend inhibits corrosion arising from contact with produced water generated by hydrocarbon recovery from one or more subterranean reservoirs. The produced water having the blend dispersed therein is irradiated with a source of light having a selected first range of wavelengths, and the luminescent emission of the graphene quantum dot-tagged corrosion inhibitor is measured at a selected second range of wavelengths, thereby providing for real-time measurement of corrosion inhibitor concentration within the pipe.
Asymmetrical stretch composite for pipe liner
A fibrous material or composite including a plurality of layers joined to one another, for example, by needlepunching, is disclosed. The fibrous composite generally has an asymmetrical stretch profile, such that the fibrous composite is more extensible in the cross-machine direction than in the machine direction. The fibrous composite may find particular use in forming a cure-in-place pipe liner.
Erosion-resistant inserts for flow equipment
A system for transporting corrosive or erosive fluids having a conduit or flow equipment with a flow bore, comprising; a flexible pipe, an adapter, an end connector, a clamp connector, insert(s), and a metal spacer. Insert(s) comprise an erosion resistant coating disposed around the internal structure that is a spring or helical structure. The insert(s) is/are disposed inside the flow bore and provide erosion and/or corrosion resistance.
IMPROVED METHODS FOR JOINING LINED PIPES AND ASSOCIATED APPARATUS
Methods and apparatus for making lined pipelines in which pipes are joined together by attaching fittings at their ends and joining the fittings together. Within the joint there is a fit-up sleeve which forces liners against respective fittings and provides corresponding seals. Other seals can be provided by inserting sealing rings which force different portions of the liners against different portions of the fittings. The fit-up sleeve and sealing rings may force the liners against castellations which prevent movement of the liners. The fit-up sleeve may cooperate with insertion rims on the fittings to provide very accurate spacing, or touching edges which can be desirable if automatic welding is employed. The seals provided by the fit-up sleeve also eliminate backdraughts and assist welding operations. Furthermore, the fit-up sleeve permits pigging through the pipe joint and therefore along the length of the resulting lined pipeline. It is foreseen that the need for CRA components and CRA welding can be largely if not wholly dispensed with.
COUPLING SEAL FOR PIPE LINERS
A coupler for lined pipe joints in a lined pipe system. The coupler for a lined pipe system, having lined pipe section ends with an inner diameter. A substantially cylindrical hollow body includes an outer surface, an inner surface, two opposing open ends, and a longitudinal center between the two opposing open ends. A ridge extends radially outwardly from the outer surface at the longitudinal center. A hollow radial barb, with a point having a maximum diameter and a hollow section, is symmetrically disposed on the outer surface between each opposing open end and the ridge wherein the radial barbs extend outwardly from the outer surface and away from the ridge.
Powder coating material, laminate and pipe
A powder coating material including a main material resin containing an epoxy resin; a phosphorus flame retarder; and at least one inorganic particulate substance selected from metal hydroxides and hydrous metal compounds. The inorganic particulate substance has an average particle size of 0.01 to 9 μm. The inorganic particulate substance is present in an amount of 80 to 200 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the main material resin.
Device for the internal monolithic insulation of a welded pipeline joint
A device internally insulating a welded pipeline joint between pipes having an internal protective coating, in a first variant, includes a power actuator having a cylindrical elastic working member for radial expansion when excess pressure occurs inside its cavity. A cylindrical casing of elastic anti-adhesive material arranged coaxially on the member exterior can have channels for exhausting air and supplying a compound. In a second variant, the device sleevelessly insulates an annular space. A casing made of an anti-adhesive material is centrally reinforced by an elastic cord. Using a cylindrical elastic anti-adhesive casing coaxially arranged on the exterior of a power actuator elastic working member forms an annular space in the weld zone either using a protective sleeve, or by a reinforced casing portion. A vacuum in the space is filled by a compound. The elastic anti-adhesive material allows easy removal of the casing from the hardened compound surface.
PARAFFIN DEPOSITION INHIBITOR COATINGS
A containment for crude oil that inhibits paraffin deposition thereon is described. One to twenty coatings of a composition including a polyacrylate are applied to a crude oil contact surface of a crude oil containment; the polyacrylate includes at least about 50 mole % acrylic acid residues or the conjugate base thereof. The coating compositions are suitably delivered from a water dispersion, solution, or emulsion and dried before applying a subsequent coating. Each of the one to twenty coatings are formed from the same or from different polyacrylate coating compositions. The coated containment surfaces inhibit deposition of at least 10 wt % and as much as 90 wt % of paraffin solids from a crude oil compared to the same crude oil contact in the absence of the one to twenty coatings. The coatings inhibit paraffin deposition at temperatures between about 60° C. and −40° C.
