MEASURING ARRANGEMENT FOR LUBRICANT
20220042592 · 2022-02-10 ·

A system includes a bearing, a lubricant line, a vessel and a sensor. The lubricant line is designed to introduce lubricant from a bearing gap of the bearing into the vessel. The sensor is designed to measure at least one physical variable of lubricant that is situated in the vessel. The vessel includes an outlet or overflow. The system includes a lubricant sump and a device for introducing lubricant from the sump into the bearing gap of the bearing.

Bearing cavity and method of evacuating oil therefrom

The bearing chamber assembly can have a bearing chamber wall extending annularly and having a drain aperture, the drain aperture connecting a scavenge line, and a baffle, the baffle having an apertured sheet connected at one end to the bearing chamber wall, extending from the connected end over and past the scavenge port to a free edge, the free edge spaced from the bearing chamber wall.

Drainage path for a bearing sump in a vertically oriented turbine engine

A gas turbine engine in a shutdown mode comprises one or more rotatable shafts, a first oil sump, a second oil sump, and an oil drainage conduit fluidically connecting the first oil sump and the second oil sump. The one or more rotatable shafts are oriented with an axis of rotation less than 90 degrees from vertical. The first oil sump has a selected critical vertical level. The second oil sump is positioned at an elevation lower than the elevation of the first oil sump. The oil drainage conduit effects oil drainage by gravity from the first oil sump to the second oil sump to prevent the level of oil collected in the first oil sump from exceeding the selected critical vertical level.
