Technologies are generally described for a two-piece filter assembly for centrifugal pump assemblies. A filter portion optionally made from recyclable material may receive contaminated oil from the oil path, through the filter, and provide the filtered oil back to the sump. The filtered oil is then reclaimed by the oil ring from the sump to lubricate the bearings. The filter portion may be removable from the plug portion and the plug portion may be placed back onto the pump assembly with a new filter portion. In some examples, moisture absorbing beads are placed inside the filter portion to remove moisture from the filtered oil.

An oil cooling system for an aircraft engine, a bypass valve and an associate method of cooling aircraft engine oil are provided. The oil cooling system includes a heat exchanger having an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is in fluid communication with a first oil conduit to receive a first oil flow from the first oil conduit. The heat exchanger facilitates heat transfer from the first oil flow to another fluid. A flow restrictor defining a constriction is operatively disposed to restrict the first oil flow through the heat exchanger. A second oil conduit receives the first oil flow from the heat exchanger. A bypass oil passage provides fluid communication between the first oil conduit and the second oil conduit to allow a second oil flow received from the first oil conduit to flow to the second oil conduit and bypass the heat exchanger.

The lubricant is drained through drain lines connected to the consumers and directed to a tank. At least some the lubricant in the drain lines or the consumers is extracted into extraction lines. Flow from the extraction lines is selectively directed to a measurement device, which then measures a characteristic of the lubricant. A system for carrying out such a method is also provided, wherein the system includes a multiplexer for selectively directing flow from the extraction lines.

The return conduit connects the tank and the branch at a second connecting position higher than the first connecting position in a height direction along a height of the air bleeder to return lubricant to the tank and to remove air from lubricant in the lubricant supply conduit.
