The present invention pertains to a device for controlling a medical gas flow from a cylinder, wherein the device is configured to be releasably attachable to a gas cylinder and wherein the device is capable of identifying a gas cylinder in order to control the opening and closing of a valve comprised in the valve. Accordingly, the device comprises a valve for controlling a gas flow from a gas cylinder, a gas outlet, which is in fluid communication with said valve and positioned downstream of said valve, and a connecting means configured for receiving and releasably connecting a cylinder for providing a fluid connection between a cylinder and said valve. The device furthermore comprises an identifying means for identifying a cylinder, wherein the valve is in communication with the identifying means and is configured to be openable based on the identification of the cylinder.

The invention relates to a device for providing pressurized fluid. The device includes a first functional assembly including a pressurized fluid bottle having an opening having attached therein a first tap including an inner fluid circuit including an insulating valve. The device includes a second functional assembly forming a physical entity separate from the first assembly. The second assembly includes a second tap having an inner fluid circuit. The first tap and the second tap include respective coupling members forming a removable rapid connection system. The device includes in the first assembly at least one electronic data storage communication unit that is removably, wirelessly queryable via electromagnetic waves and in that the second assembly includes at least one electronic communication unit for removably, wirelessly reading, via electromagnetic waves, data from the electronic member of the first assembly.

The authenticating features prevent use of an unauthorized cryogenic cylinders. The apparatus includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader configured to interrogate an RFID tag associated with the gas vessel for RFID information. The apparatus includes a gas input port configured to be in removably connected to gas supply, a gas output port configured to be removably connected to the gas vessel and a processor configured to: determine at least one gas vessel characteristic associated with the RFID information, control a flow of gas from the gas input port to the gas output port based at least in part on the at least one gas vessel characteristic, determine at least one filling criterion based at least in part on the RFID information, determine whether the at least one filling criterion is met, and trigger at least one action if the at least one filling criterion is not met.
