HYDROGEN TANK ASSEMBLY FOR A VEHICLE, SUCH AS AN AIRCRAFT
20230027471 · 2023-01-26 ·

A hydrogen tank assembly is provided for use in vehicles, such as aircraft. The hydrogen tank assembly has an inner tank wall, an outer tank wall, and an inert gas source. The inner tank wall defines a hydrogen tank volume that is surrounded by a shroud volume which is defined by the outer tank wall. The hydrogen tank volume is filled with cryogenic hydrogen and has a higher pressure than the shroud volume that is filled with an inert gas, such as helium. The counter-pressure of the inert gas prevents micro-cracks in the inner tank wall and increases the in-service life.

A compressed gas storage system that includes a pressure vessel. The pressure vessel includes a first vessel portion and a second vessel portion in fluid communication with the first vessel portion. The pressure vessel includes a third vessel portion in fluid communication with the second vessel portion. The compressed gas storage system includes a first valve positioned between the first vessel portion and the second vessel portion and a second valve positioned between the second vessel portion and the third vessel portion. The first valve allows and impedes fluid flow between the first and the second vessel portions. The second valve allows and impedes fluid flow between the second and the third vessel portions.

Cryogenic trench/trough apparatus and method

A method of installing a trench for containing a cryogenic spill, including the step of constructing multiple precast concrete sections at a first location, each section preferably having a bottom wall and spaced apart side walls connected to and extending up from the bottom wall. Each section preferably has end portions that enable connection to another said concrete section. The method includes applying a polymeric concrete material to the bottom wall and side walls of each concrete section preferably using a spray application. The concrete sections are connected together using connections that preferably join one end portion of a concrete section to and end portion of another concrete section. An epoxy grout or non-sag seal can be preferably applied to the connections.

This high-pressure tank includes a resin liner constituting a hollow fluid filling part, a ferrule including a supply/discharge port which communicates with an internal space of the liner and a flange part which protrudes outward in a radial direction from a circumferential region of the supply/discharge port and abuts on the liner, and a reinforcing layer made of a fiber reinforced resin attached to cover across the liner and an outer circumferential surface of the flange part, in which a discharge hole allowing a gap between abutting surfaces of the flange part and the liner to communicate with an inside of the supply/discharge port and discharging a fluid accumulated between the liner and the reinforcing layer to the supply/discharge port is provided in the ferrule, and a trap groove surrounding a circumferential region of the discharge hole is provided on at least any one of the abutting surface on the flange part side and the abutting surface on the liner side.

Cryogenic trench/trough apparatus and method

A method of installing a trough or trench for containing a cryogenic spill, includes the step of constructing multiple precast concrete sections at a first location, each section having a bottom wall and spaced apart side walls connected to and extending up from the bottom wall. Each section has end portions that enable connection to another concrete section. The method includes (at the first location), preparing multiple panels of polymeric concrete material by filling one or more molds with a slurry or liquid polymeric concrete material and after time allowing the material to cure and harden. At the first location, one or more of the panels is adhered to the bottom wall and side walls of each concrete section using an adhesive. After adhering of the panels to the concrete sections, the concrete sections are transported from the first location to a second location that is remote from the first location. At the second location, the concrete sections are connected together using connections that join one end portion of a concrete section to and end portion of another concrete section. In one embodiment, the trough or trench is placed next to a pipe rack having cryogen containing flow lines. A slab and riser arrangement preferably channel any spill to the trough or trench.

A high-pressure tank for storing a gas includes: a liner having a cylindrical opening; a reinforcing layer covering the liner; a mouthpiece including an external thread portion on an outer periphery thereof and externally fixed to the reinforcing layer covering the opening; a manifold including an inserted portion to be inserted into the opening so as to close the opening, an abutting surface configured to abut on an end face of the opening, and an internal thread portion on an inner periphery thereof to be screwed into the external thread portion of the mouthpiece; and a communicating path that allows the abutting surface of the manifold to communicate with an outside of the high-pressure tank.

HYDROGEN TANK PROVIDED WITH A GASEOUS HYDROGEN CAPTURE SYSTEM
20230160535 · 2023-05-25 ·

A hydrogen tank, preferably a tank for storing liquid hydrogen at low pressure in cryogenic condition, includes at least one gaseous hydrogen capture system. The system is provided with absorbent fillers configured to capture the gaseous hydrogen, the absorbent fillers being linked to at least a part of a wall of the tank, and/or to a skin arranged on an outer face of the tank, and/or to an outer jacket intended to implement an auxiliary function. The system has a reduced weight and is able to retain and store gaseous hydrogen which could escape from the tank so as to prevent it from being given off into the environment of the tank. The captured gaseous hydrogen is able to be restored later by the system.
