The present invention provides a candleholder for use with candle to collect the dripping wax. The candleholder comprises a rigid cylindrical sleeve with an open top and an open bottom, and a base configured to releasably couple to the open bottom of the cylindrical sleeve. The candleholder is dimensioned such that to receive the candle and the candle is supported on the base while having a small amount of empty space around the candle for collecting the dripped wax. The bottom surface of the base further comprises a protrusion configured to fit into pocket of a conventional candlesticks or stands.

The inward most point of the tapered portion of the sides defines an aperture having a size which is less than that of the widest part of the candle. Also provided are a candle and a candle stand having a catching device for use with the candle holder. In use, wax and waste material from the candle pass through the aperture of the candle holder into the catching device. Thus, the candle holder can be reused repeatedly without the need for cleaning or replacement of the candle holder.

The outer refracting layer is applied to an outer surface of the cover, and has a second light transmittance value which is less than that of the cover. A pattern is added between the inner and outer layers. In operation, a first portion of the light emitted by the light source passes through the inner layer, the cover, and the outer layer, and a second portion of the light bounces between the outer refracting layer and the opaque reflecting layer before passing through the outer refracting layer. Additionally, an interior refracting layer may be used to spread the light more widely and evenly onto the opaque reflecting layer.
