A disposable thumb light and a method of providing direct lighting for a medical procedure on a patient using a disposable thumb light is described. The disposable thumb light includes a housing, a light source, and at least one attachment configured to couple the disposable thumb light to a thumb of a user or a glove. The housing can include at least one flexible portion. The disposable thumb light can further include a flex responsive switch that is configured to move between at least a first position and a second position when the housing moves from a first housing position to a second housing position and energize or de-energize the light source in response. In the method of providing direct lighting for medical procedure, the disposable thumb light is coupled to a thumb of a user; the light source is energized by moving the thumb of the user from a first position to a second position; and the light source is de-energized by moving the thumb of the user from the second position toward the first position.

Stimulation systems with a lens arrangement for light coupling and methods of making and using

An implantable light generation arrangement for an optical or optical/electrical stimulation system includes a light source having an emission surface, wherein the light source is configured to generate light and emit the light from the emission surface; an optical waveguide having a first end and a core; a ball lens disposed between the light source and the optical waveguide and configured to receive the light emitted from the light source and direct the light onto the core at the first end of the optical waveguide; and a fixture holding the light source, optical waveguide, and ball lens in a fixed arrangement.

Lighting devices for handheld surgical instruments, holsters for surgical instruments with lighting devices and kits containing surgical instruments and lighting devices

Lighting devices are disclosed for use with handheld surgical instruments, along with holsters for supporting surgical instruments with lighting devices thereon and kits containing surgical instruments and lighting devices.

Head wearable devices and methods

Head wearable devices and methods are disclosed where a head wearable device includes a headpiece including a headband and an occipital basket attached to the headband, and a first housing attached to the headband. A depth adjuster is attached to the first housing and configured to change, by controlling a distance between the occipital basket and the first housing, a depth of the headpiece. A second housing is attached to the occipital basket, and a headband adjuster is attached to the occipital basket to change a circumference of the headpiece by controlling a distance between respective opposing ends of the headband and the second housing.

Sanitation control for headlamps having variable beam illumination

A headlamp apparatus is described that is suitable for use by health care providers. The apparatus is directed to a headlamp that provides the ability for a user to block contaminants from entering into an internal portion or cavity of the headlamp while also providing the user the ability to sanitize the internal components of the headlamp without disassembly. The apparatus is further directed to a headlamp having an actuatable iris and associated lens whereby continuous enlarging of a diameter of an aperture of the iris continuously, linearly actuates the lens away from the iris and continuously reducing the diameter of the aperture of the iris continuously, linearly actuates the lens towards the iris.

Lighting system with vacuum intake

A lighting system with vacuum intake is provided, having a lighting structure including at least one light-emitting element dimensioned to illuminate a region, and a lighting support structure extending at a first end thereof from the lighting structure and enabling repositioning of the lighting structure relative to a second end of the lighting support structure. The lighting support structure hays an air conduit extending therealong and connectable or connected towards the second end of the lighting support structure to a vacuum system, the air conduit being in fluid communication with a vacuum intake positioned towards the lighting structure.

Economical surgical lighting device and method of assembly

This disclosure relates to a surgical lighting device comprising a shell (12), a plurality of light sources (24) coupled to the shell, and a closure plate (18) for closing the lighting device by allowing light to pass through. The closure plate comprises a plurality of lens elements, each lens element being configured to collect and focus light from a corresponding light source to generate a light spot of a predetermined diameter located at a predetermined distance from the lighting device. In order to simplify the structure of the lighting device, the light sources and the cover plate are arranged in such a way that the light beams coming from the light sources and received by the associated lens elements arrive at the lens elements without substantial reflection or deflection. The closure plate therefore comprises all the optics necessary for collecting and focusing the light from the light sources.
