A knob for an appliance includes a handle. A light guide defines a recess. At least a portion of the handle is received within the recess of the light guide. A bezel is disposed over at least a portion of the light guide. The handle is rotatable relative to the bezel. A light emitter is disposed within the bezel. The light emitter is operable to emit light into the light guide. At least a portion of an interior surface of the light guide is textured, and an exterior surface of the light guide is smooth.

Proposed is a home appliance in which a reception space defined in the home appliance can be seen from the outside without opening a door through a viewing window. In the home appliance, the viewing window is mounted to the door, and when a user knocks on the door, a knock input by the user is detected and the inside of the reception space is illuminated such that the inside of the reception space can be seen from the outside through the viewing window. Accordingly, a user can see the inside of the reception space by a simple motion without opening the door.

A knob assembly includes a knob, a light assembly, a light socket, and a receptacle. The light assembly includes a light diffuser, a light source, and a light connector prong. Light from the light source is transmitted through the light diffuser. The light connector prong is electrically connected to the light source to provide power to the light source when the knob is rotated. The light socket includes a socket housing, a light connector aperture wall, an electrical connector aperture wall, and an internal conductor. A lighted display assembly for an appliance includes interchangeable display screens. Multiple light sources flash, turn on and turn off to indicate a status of the appliance by illuminating a selected one of the display screens. A display grid extends continuously between the light sources and the selected display screen and defines light passages that are each uniquely associated with one or more corresponding light sources. Light emitted by each light source is confined to a discrete area of the display screen by the corresponding light passage. The discrete areas of the interchangeable display screens may include any of a variety of markings, for example, markings in a different language. The oven includes a case having a cooking chamber therein, a door unit connected to the case, configured to open or close the cooking chamber, and having a transparent portion configured to enable a user to see the inside of the cooking chamber, a handle protruding from the door unit to the outside, and a camera module configured to photograph the inside of the cooking chamber, and disposed to be biased toward one end of the handle from the center in longitudinal direction of the handle.
