REDUCING THE SIZE OF A FLAMELESS THERMAL OXIDIZER BY OXYGEN ENHANCEMENT
A flameless thermal oxidizer includes a container in which a ceramic matrix is contained, and a diptube having a passageway extending therethrough, the diptube positioned in and in communication with the ceramic matrix and in which a plurality of gaseous streams are present for combustion at the ceramic matrix, the plurality of gaseous streams including a vent stream and an oxygen stream. A related method is also provided.
FLAMELESS THERMAL OXIDIZER AND RELATED METHOD OF SHAPING REACTION ZONE
A flameless thermal oxidizer (FTO) includes at least one baffle constructed and arranged in a reaction chamber of the FTO to coact with a diptube of the FTO to radially expand a resulting “bubble” or reaction envelope from the diptube outward into a porous matrix of the FTO.
A related method is also provided.
METHOD FOR ARRANGING A PACKING IN A BURNER AND BURNER BASKET FOR A BURNER
A method for disposing a bed comprising particles in a burner through which a gas can flow, more particularly in a burner basket of an ammonia oxidation burner, where the particles are disposed such that the bed has a greater flow resistance in an edge region of the burner than in an inner region of the burner. Further, a burner basket for a burner may have a bed comprising particles, wherein the particles are disposed such that the bed has a greater flow resistance in an edge region of the burner basket than in an inner region of the burner basket.
FLAMELESS THERMAL OXIDIZER FOR OXIDIZING GASEOUS EFFLUENT STREAMS CONTAINING HYDROGEN GAS
A flameless thermal oxidizer apparatus for a gaseous stream containing hydrogen includes a vessel containing a ceramic matrix bed; and a dip tube extending into the ceramic matrix bed, the dip tube including a first flow path for a first stream having hydrogen therein, and a second flow path for a second stream having an oxidant therein to be mixed with the first stream for introduction into the ceramic matrix bed. A related method is also provided.
Method for mitigating acid rock drainage potential through the smoldering combustion of organic materials
Methods are provided for the removal of sulfur and other ARD/AMD-generating materials through the smoldering combustion of an organic material. The methods comprise admixing an ARD/AMD-generating porous matrix material with an organic material to produce a mixture, exposing the mixture to an oxidant, and initiating a self-sustaining smoldering combustion of the mixture. Additional embodiments aggregate the organic material or ARD/AMD-generating porous matrix material or mixture thereof in an impoundment such as a reaction vessel, depression or matrix pile. Further embodiments utilize at least one heater to initiate combustion and at least one air supply port to supply oxidant to initiate and maintain combustion.
Premixing-less porous hydrogen burner
This invention describes a new porous hydrogen burner that is intended to be installed on different types of furnaces requiring a precise monitoring of the thermal flux, and in particular furnaces for steam-reforming of natural gas or naphtha.
Gradual oxidation with flue gas
Described herein are embodiments of systems and methods for oxidizing gases. In some embodiments, a reaction chamber is configured to receive a fuel gas and maintain the gas at a temperature within the reaction chamber that is above an autoignition temperature of the gas. The reaction chamber may also be configured to maintain a reaction temperature within the reaction chamber below a flameout temperature. In some embodiments, heat and product gases from the oxidation process can be used, for example, to drive a turbine, reciprocating engine, and injected back into the reaction chamber.
Apparatus for enclosing a chemical looping process
The present invention relates generally to an apparatus for housing a chemical looping process comprising of at least one fluidized-bed combustor reactor, at least one entrained riser, at least one particle separator, optionally at least one particle holding reactor, at least one moving-bed reactor, at least one standpipe, at least one L-valve system for solid flow control and interconnecting sections.
Burner system with discrete transverse flame stabilizers
A combustion system includes a fuel and oxidant source and a flame holder. The flame holder includes a plurality of discrete slats arranged in parallel defining combustion channels between adjacent slats. The fuel and oxidant source outputs fuel and oxidant into the combustion channels. The flame holder holds a combustion reaction of the fuel and oxidant in the combustion channels.
