PULVERIZED SOLID FUEL NOZZLE TIP ASSEMBLY WITH CARBON TIP PORTION
A pulverized solid fuel nozzle tip assembly for use with a pulverized solid fuel pipe nozzle to issue a stream of pulverized solid fuel and air to a pulverized solid fuel-fired boiler is described. The pulverized solid fuel nozzle tip assembly has an outer nozzle tip portion adapted to mount in supported relation with the pulverized solid fuel pipe nozzle, and a monolithic, ceramic, inner nozzle tip portion adapted for mounting within the outer nozzle tip portion to have secure tiltable movement. The outer nozzle has supporting surfaces that support surfaces of the inner nozzle tip portion to minimize the tilting forces transmitted to the inner nozzle tip portion during normal furnace operation, enhancing the wear resistance of the pulverized solid fuel nozzle tip assembly. The outer nozzle has an air shroud with multiple air passages to direct secondary air over an outer surface of the inner nozzle tip portion.
NOZZLE TIP FOR A SOLID FUEL BURNER
A nozzle tip for a pulverized solid fuel pipe nozzle of a pulverized solid fuel-fired furnace is provided. The nozzle tip includes an inner nozzle portion and an outer nozzle portion that receives therein the inner nozzle portion. The outer nozzle portion has a lower supporting surface that is configured to support a lower surface of the inner nozzle portion. The outer nozzle portion also includes a plurality of ribs that define therebetween a plurality of flow passages for the passage of air. The ribs, in addition to define the airflow passages, provide bolstering support for the lower supporting surface. The outer nozzle portion is formed from stainless steel.
NOZZLE FOR FEEDING COMBUSTION MEDIA INTO A FURNACE
In a nozzle for feeding a combustible medium such as coal particles along with air into a furnace, the exit end of each splitter plate in the nozzle is reinforced by a stiffener having an external cross-sectional shape in the form of a continuous curve proceeding outward and forward from a first surface of the plate to a first location, inward from the first location to a second location beyond the level of an opposite second surface of the plate, and inward and rearward from the second location to the second surface. The stiffener can be hollow, and can also be provided with openings for the flow of cooling air from the interior to the exterior of the stiffener. The continuous curvature of the exterior of the stiffener avoids recirculating flow at locations adjacent the stiffener and thereby minimizes flame attachment and deposition of ash or fuel sediment onto the reinforced splitter plates.
WALL-FIRED BURNERS
A wall-fired burner includes a fuel tip defining a fuel direction axis and a fuel tip pivot axis perpendicular thereto. A first air tip is adjacent to the fuel tip. The first air tip defines a first air direction axis and a first air tip pivot axis perpendicular thereto. A second air tip is adjacent to the fuel tip, opposite from the first air tip across the fuel tip. The second air tip defines a second air direction axis and a second air tip pivot axis perpendicular thereto. A mechanism operatively connects the fuel tip, the first air tip and the second air tip for at least one of independent and/or joint movement of the fuel tip, the first air tip and the second air tip.
Coal nozzle assembly for a steam generation apparatus
A steam generating system includes a furnace, a nozzle tip assembly for pulverized coal and primary air as well as means for conveying secondary air in the furnace. The nozzle according to the invention comprises a nozzle body (3) and several channels (5) being connected with the nozzle body, the channels are diverging from each other. At the exit faces (17) of the channels obstructions (13) are disposed to induce huge turbulences of the primary air when entering the furnace. Due to these turbulences the primary air and the entrained coal are mixed very well before being combusted in the furnace. This results in a better more effective combustion with reduced NOx-emissions.

Nozzle assembly for a solid fuel burner and method of operating a nozzle assembly for a solid fuel burner
A nozzle tip for a pulverized solid fuel pipe nozzle of a pulverized solid fuel-fired furnace is provided. The nozzle tip includes a primary shroud having an inlet end and an outlet end, and an outlet at the outlet end for the passage of a pulverized solid fuel into the furnace. An area of the outlet is selectively adjustable to vary an exit velocity of the pulverized solid fuel from the nozzle tip.
