A system for treating infectious waste is provided that employs a medical waste handling and shredding sub-system that feeds partially processed waste to an oxidizer to eliminate potential airborne infectious waste prior to transforming the medical waste into useful co-products. Medical waste is transformed into value added products including hydrocarbon based gases, hydrocarbon-based liquids, carbonized material, and recovered precious metals and rare earth materials in a system having as its transformative element an anerobic, negative pressure, or carbonization system. With medical waste as a feedstock for the production of valuable products, an economically viable and environmentally more responsible alternative to traditional methods of medical waste treatment is realized.

THREE STEP ULTRA-COMPACT PLASMA SYSTEM FOR THE HIGH TEMPERATURE TREATMENT OF WASTE ONBOARD SHIPS
20220057085 · 2022-02-24 ·

An apparatus for thermal processing of waste having organic and inorganic components comprises at least a treatment station, a cooling station and a treated material-removal station, and at least three crucibles. The treatment station is adapted to thermally treat the organic components and/or inorganic components located in a given one of the crucibles located at the treatment station. The so-treated components in this given crucible are adapted to then be cooled at the cooling station, before the treated components located in the given crucible are removed therefrom at the treated material-removal station. The three crucibles are mounted on a turntable so that the three crucibles are each at one of the stations, before synchronously all moving to each crucible's next station.

The embodiments described relate to an expeditionary solid waste disposal system configured to improve logistics and enable it to be readily deployed. The two-stage gasification/oxidation process takes place in a dual chambered device that resembles and functions as a shipping container. Incinerators or other waste conversion devices are commonly containerized by loading the equipment into a standard or modified shipping container. This apparatus is designed as a waste conversion unit that integrates all of the necessary features required to be an ISO-certified shipping container within its structural design such that the waste conversion system and shipping container are one and the same. With correct set-up by 2 persons aided by forklift the system can be configured and operational in a matter of hours.

ABATEMENT METHOD AND APPARATUS

An abatement apparatus and method are disclosed. The abatement apparatus is for treating an effluent stream from a semiconductor processing tool and comprises: a first abatement device configured to receive the effluent stream and operable to run in an active mode to treat the effluent stream; a second abatement device operable to run in an idle mode; and control logic operable, on receipt of an indication of an alarm condition associated with the first abatement device, to run the second abatement device in the active mode. In this way, a first or primary abatement device is provided which treats the effluent stream and a second or back-up abatement device is provided, should the first abatement device malfunction. However, by only causing the second abatement device to operate in the active mode when the first abatement device malfunctions, significant energy savings can be made.

METHOD AND TREATMENT FACILITY FOR PHYSICAL AND THERMOCHEMICAL TREATMENT OF BIOMASS
20230295516 · 2023-09-21 · ·

In a method for physical and thermochemical treatment of biomass, the biomass moisture content is reduced in a dryer and ammonia (NH.sub.3) is also released from the biomass during drying. The dried biomass is then either pyrolyzed in a pyrolysis reactor and the pyrolysis gas is forwarded to and combusted in a combustion device to form flue gas, or is combusted in a combustion facility unit to form flue gas. In either case the flue gas is fed to a mixer. Oxygen (O.sub.2) is metered to the flue gas in the mixer and is fed directly to the dryer as drying gas. As the drying gas passes through the dryer, the sulfur dioxide (SO.sub.2) contained in the drying gas and/or the sulfur trioxide (SO.sub.3) chemically reacts with the ammonia (NH.sub.3) to form ammonium sulfite ((NH.sub.4).sub.2SO.sub.3) and/or ammonium sulfate ((NH.sub.4).sub.2SO.sub.4). Also a treatment facility physically and thermochemically treats the biomass.

An apparatus and a method are provided for continuously drying bulk goods, in particular wood fibers and/or wood chips, in a dryer, wherein the drying vapors are led to a dryer circuit, in which the drying vapors are indirectly heated via a heat-exchanger and are conducted to the dryer again.

System for processing waste

The system for processing waste includes both a fixed bed reactor and a fluidized bed reactor. The fixed bed reactor receives a first waste material and produces a first set of reaction products. The fluidized bed reactor is adapted for receiving a second waste material and producing a second set of reaction products. The first and second sets of reaction products may be selectively and adjustably mixed to produce a mixed set of reaction products. At least one cyclone separator receives the reaction products and separates and collects solids (waxes) from the product stream. At least one condenser receives the product stream and removes a condensable liquids from the product stream. The condensable liquids are collected, and a gas-liquid separator removes any remaining liquid from the gas stream. The remaining gas is then output as gaseous product.
