Apparatus for Oil Flow Control

The current invention discloses a method of controlling the flow rate of a heavy fuel oil in a fluid transfer apparatus having a point of use outlet to a boiler. It not only controls the flow rate of the fuel oil directly, but also indirectly control the viscosity of the fuel oil without measuring its viscosity. It relies on combustion curves established during the commissioning period using a typical fuel oil at a predetermined trim heater temperature. During normal operation, it sets the flow control valve according to the combustion curves, measures the flow rate and compares to the flow rate target. Instead of using the flow rate measurement feedback to control the flow control vale, it modulates the trim heater to vary the viscosity to arrive at the desired flow rate.

Segregated fired heater

A fired heater has two cells segregated by an insulative wall. A first plurality of burners are located in the first cell and a second plurality of burners are located in the second cell. A radiant tube extends from the first cell to the second cell for carrying a fluid material through the heater to heat the fluid material. The flow of fuel to the burners in either the first cell or the second cell can be terminated to accommodate lower heater duty when demand is lower.

A heating system includes a closed pipe for flowing kerosene, the closed pipe including lengthwise conductive ridges on an inner surface; a pump being in fluid communication with kerosene; heating assemblies each including an insulation cylinder put on a portion of the closed pipe, and a heating coil wound on the insulation cylinder for heating the kerosene; and a plurality of electric power sources each electrically connected to the heating coil.

Tridyne ignition and pressurization system for hypersonic vehicles

A system for providing ignition and pressurization of hypersonic vehicles is disclosed. The system combines the pressurization, barbotage and ignition functions into a single system saving mass and volume and simplifying the hypersonic vehicle plumbing. A monopropellant fuel such as Tridyne is used to pressurize a fuel tank, warm the fuel as it enters fuel injectors, and provide barbotage of the fuel just prior to its injection into a combustion chamber.

AIR HEATER

A liquid fuel air heater comprises a housing defining a motor housing portion and a grip portion extending from the motor housing portion. An electric motor is positioned in the motor housing portion. A combustion chamber is at least partially positioned within the motor housing portion. A fan is driven by the motor when activated for generating an axial airflow through the combustion chamber. A battery pack containing a plurality of battery cells connected to each other in a series or parallel arrangement is removably coupled to the grip portion of the housing for supplying power to the motor.
