20220404016 · 2022-12-22 · ·

A remotely actuated pilot valve provides for a pilot gas valve that includes safe lighting and complete shutoff capabilities in the event that the flame that is heating a thermocouple is extinguished, the pilot valve having a pilot flow interrupter to provide pilot gas only when initially opened. A heater system that utilizes such a pilot gas valve is provided as is a method whereby the pilot gas valve used in such a system can be remotely and electronically actuated when required. Remote actuation is accomplished by use of a solenoid that is incorporated within the valve design and which is controlled by a remote operator.

Temperature sensing and smart gas cooking

A gas cooktop may include: a gas burner; a sensor configured to sense temperature of a cooking container heated by the gas burner; a valve configured to control flow rate of gas from a gas source to the gas burner; and a control system including circuitry. The control system may start operation of the gas burner; receive sensor signals from the sensor indicating the temperature of the cooking container; and based on received sensor signals representing the sensed temperature of the cooking container and a cooking profile indicating one or more durations and one or more temperatures, control the valve to change the gas flow rate to the gas burner.

Method for detecting anomalies associated with a gas appliance

The invention refers to a method for detecting anomalies associated with a gas appliance (1), the gas appliance (1) comprising at least a gas inlet (2), at least one gas burner (3) and gas distribution means (4) coupling the gas inlet (2) with said at least one gas burner (3), the method comprising the steps of: —gathering information regarding the gas flow or the operational state based on detection means (5.1, 5.2) (S20); —evaluating said gathered information in order to detect gas flow anomalies or operational anomalies, thereby obtaining evaluation information (S21); —providing alert information from a communication interface of the gas appliance (1) to a user device (6) depending on said evaluation information (S22).

Electronic Gas/Air Burner Modulating Control

An electronic control system for a power burner system for use with a heating appliance includes a burner tube, a gas valve for providing gas to the burner tube, an electronic control and a variable speed combustion air blower for mixing air with the gas provided to the burner tube. The electronic control system further includes a control in communication with the gas valve and the combustion air blower. The control may also be in communication with various other devices of an appliance, such as a variable speed air-circulating fan, a variable speed exhaust fan, or various sensors associated with the heating appliance. The control modulates the gas valve and the combustion air blower to maintain substantially stoichiometric conditions of the gas and air provided to the burner tube and as a function of signals from at least one of the devices. In one embodiment, the burner system may be used in a conveyor oven.

Water heater operation monitoring and notification

A water heater monitoring and notification method includes determining, by a controller of a water heater system, a deviation of a duration of a pre-purge operation from a pre-purge duration average value. The method further includes determining, by the controller of the water heater system, a deviation of a flame current from a flame current average value and determining, by the controller of the water heater system, a deviation of a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) parameter from a PWM parameter average value. The method also includes providing a notification related to a combustion system of the water heater system based on at least the deviation of the duration of the pre-purge operation from the pre-purge duration average value, the deviation of the flame current from the flame current average value, and the deviation of the PWM parameter from the PWM parameter average value.

Control system and method for a solid fuel combustion appliance

A control system for a solid fuel combustion appliance, e.g., a wood burning stove, includes a temperature sensor for sensing an output temperature of the appliance. A controller receives the output temperature and controls a damper associated with air flow through the stove to maintain a predetermined temperature. The system also includes a detector that senses certain conditions of the solid fuel, e.g., wood, that is burned by the stove. When additional fuel is added to the appliance, the system temporarily encourages initial combustion of the new fuel, before returning to maintaining the predetermined temperature.

Water Heater Operation Monitoring and Notification

A water heater monitoring and notification method includes determining that an intake pressure switch of a combustion system of a water heater or an exhaust pressure switch of the combustion system of the water heater is open and shutting down a blower of the combustion system in response to the intake pressure switch or the exhaust pressure switch being open.

Audio signal driven analog flame display

A “flame show” is responsive to an audio input signal such as music. A base unit including an analog base unit controller circuit is arranged to receive an audio input signal and generate an analog control signal that is responsive to the audio input signal. The analog control signal is distributed, by wire or wireless, to one or more flame display units such as a “tiki torch.” Each flame display unit has a fuel source, and a proportional valve for controlling an amount of fuel supplied to a burner. Preferably, the control signal controls a gate terminal of a MOSFET semiconductor device, which in turn is coupled to control current in the proportional valve each each unit. By deploying multiple flame display units, all coupled to the same base unit, all of the flame display units contribute synchronously to the overall flame show.

Gas Hearth Improvements

An improved gas fireplace hearth provides a controller and can perform new features. A pressure sensor may be provided to communicate to the controller to warn of a drop of inlet gas pressure to indicate a problem with gas service rather than the hearth. An ambient temperature sensor can provide an input to the controller for various features including a safety feature to shut off gas flow if the hearth becomes too hot. The hearth can be made more efficient by having the controller implement a zero voltage alternating current system to adjust the speed of the fan, flame height, lighting, BTU output or other feature.
