RPM control method for inducer for gas furnace

Provided is an RPM control method for an inducer for a gas furnace that induces a flow of combustion gas produced in a burner from a heat exchanger to an exhaust pipe. The RPM control method for an inducer for a gas furnace includes: (a) initiating a heating operation for the gas furnace; (b) determining whether the operation time during which the heating operation is performed is equal to or longer than a first time period; (c) if it is determined that the operation time is equal to or longer than the first time period, detecting whether a pressure switch is turned OFF; and (d) if the pressure switch is detected as turned OFF, increasing the RPM of the inducer by a first value.

System and Method for Bimodal Air Control in a Kettle-style Grill

Exemplary embodiments of a system and method for bimodal air control in a kettle-style grill are configured to be detachably mounted to the exterior of a kettle-styled grill such as, but not limited to, a Weber® charcoal grill. When mounted to the kettle-styled grill, a plenum-like component directs air flows to the interior of the grill's kettle via the kettle's lower body damper holes. A manually adjustable intake damper in the plenum component allows, restricts, or prevents a drawn ambient air flow into the plenum component. Separately, a forced air flow generated by a fan may also be provided into the plenum component. Adjustment of the intake damper may also adjust damper blades inside the grill's kettle. Ash that falls out of the kettle's damper holes falls through the plenum component and is captured in an ash receptacle that is removably mounted to the plenum component.

System and method for burner ignition using sensorless constant mass flow draft inducers

A motor controller for a burner system includes an inverter that supplies current to a motor that rotates a draft inducer fan. A processor is coupled to the inverter and receives a signal from a system controller, and in response instructs the inverter to supply a first current, during a first period, to the motor to rotate the fan to produce a first mass flow through the burner system, the first mass flow having a first mass flow rate greater than a threshold to actuate a vacuum switch. The processor then instructs the inverter to supply a second current, during a second period starting at an expiration of the first period, to the motor to rotate the fan to produce a second mass flow through the burner system, the second mass flow having a target mass flow rate for normal operation of the burner.

Premixing Apparatus

A premixing apparatus in which a downstream end of a gas supply passage is connected to a gas suction section disposed in an air supply passage on an upstream side of a fan, is provided with: a butterfly valve driven by a stepping motor, for changing over, between high and low, a ventilation resistance in that section of the air supply passage which is on an upstream side of the gas suction section; a changeover valve for changing over, between high and low, a ventilation resistance in that section of the gas supply passage which is on an upstream side of a flow control valve; and an interlocking mechanism which opens or closes the changeover valve in interlocking with the rotation of the butterfly valve and which maintains the changeover valve in a closed state until the butterfly valve has rotated from the closed posture toward the opening side by a predetermined angle. Flame failure and poor combustion are prevented at the time of changing over the butterfly valve and the changeover valve from closed posture to opened posture.

When the butterfly valve is rotated from the closed posture into the opened posture, a driving frequency of the stepping motor is made higher, until the butterfly valve has rotated from the closed posture toward the opening side by a predetermined set angle, than the driving frequency during the subsequent operation of the butterfly valve.

Oxy fuel boiler system and a method of operating the same

The present disclosure relates to a boiler system that includes an oxyfuel boiler in which a stream of oxygen and a fuel are combusted to generate a stream of flue gas. A flue gas condenser condenses the cleaned flue gas. A flue gas compression unit produces a stream of pressurized carbon dioxide rich flue gas. A pressure control system measures and controls the pressure after the flue gas conditioning system to a predetermined set value. A flow control system measures and controls the flow after the flue gas compression unit to a predetermined set value. The present disclosure further relates to a method of operating such a boiler system for an oxy-fuel process as well as to a power plant comprising such a system.

A premixing apparatus has a butterfly valve provided in an air supply passage, a zero governor and a variable throttle valve interposed in a gas supply passage. A control is performed to switch a combustion capacity between at least two stages of a large-capacity stage and a small-capacity stage through change in opening degrees of the butterfly valve and the variable throttle valve. At the small-capacity time, in case the opening degree of the variable throttle valve, when regulated so that the λ becomes a predetermined value, has been changed more to the small-opening-degree side than the predetermined small-capacity opening degree, in a state in which the opening degree of the variable throttle valve has been returned to the predetermined small-capacity opening degree, the opening degree of the butterfly valve is regulated such that the λ becomes the predetermined value, and the small-capacity opening degree of the butterfly valve is renewed to the predetermined value when the λ becomes the predetermined value.

A system for a forced air flow into a kamado-style cooker comprises a control unit and an adapter defining an airflow duct with an entrance aperture and an exit aperture. The adapter is configured to removably mount over a lower damper port in a kamado-style cooker such that the exit aperture is aligned with the lower damper port. The control unit comprises an electric fan, one or more sensor input ports, and an airflow exit duct. The control unit is configured to separably mate with the adapter such that the airflow exit duct of the control unit is received by the entrance aperture of the adapter. Advantageously, a forced air flow generated by the electric fan, in response to a temperature signal input, passes out of the control unit, through the adapter, and into a body portion of the kamado-style cooker to encourage, facilitate and manage combustion within the cooker.
