A method for evaluating a quasi-stationary pressure difference detectable by a sensor at a gas boiler. The gas boiler has a mixing device (4), a fan (5), a main flow regulator (3), .a control valve (2) and a safety valve (1). The sensor detects a differential pressure between a pressure (p2) at a measuring point upstream of the main flow regulator (3) and downstream of the control valve (2) and a reference pressure (p0, p1) at a reference measuring point. The sensor transmits a signal to an electronic evaluation system. The electronic evaluation system compares the differential pressure during a pre-purge phase, wherein the safety valve (1) is closed, with the differential pressure after the pre-purge phase and detects an error by the comparison.

A method of controlling a gas furnace comprising a gas valve for supplying a fuel gas to a manifold; a burner through which the fuel gas discharged from the manifold passes; an igniter for igniting a mixture of fuel gas passed through the burner and air; and an inducer for generating a flow in which a combustion gas generated by the burning of the mixture is discharged to an exhaust pipe via a heat exchanger, wherein the gas furnace performs a heating operation according to a heating signal or a heating stop according to a stop signal, includes the steps of: (a) receiving any one of the heating signal or the stop signal; (b) transmitting a signal to operate the inducer when the heating signal is received; (c) operating the igniter; (d) transmitting a signal to open the gas valve; (e) detecting whether the gas valve is opened or closed; (f) detecting a flow rate of the fuel gas in the manifold; and (g) displaying a normal operation of the heating operation, based on information detected in the steps (e) and (f).
Valve controller configured to estimate fuel comsumption
A fuel valve for regulating a flow of fuel to a combustion appliance includes a control module configured to determine fuel consumption based on a measure related to fuel flow through the fuel valve. The measure related to fuel flow through the valve may be determined using a known relationship between firing rate and the flow rate of fuel through the valve. Measurement accuracy may be enhanced by correcting for the excess air ration (also referred to as lamda).

An object of the present invention is to realize a combustion control device that reduces, when a pressure within a mixer is rapidly increased at the time of ignition of the combustion control device, the transmission of the temporarily increased pressure to a pressure sensor, that brings the pressure sensor into a non-operated state and that thereby can continue combustion in the combustion control device. Hence, a combustion control device is provided that includes: a combustion chamber which has a heat dissipation disc on a front surface and within which a combustion room is formed; a burner which is attached to the combustion chamber; a mixer which mixes a gas supplied to the burner with air; and a pressure sensor which is connected to the mixer through a pressure passage, where a pressure propagation delay means which reduces transmission to the pressure sensor caused by a temporary pressure increase within the mixer is provided partway along the pressure passage.
COMBUSTION AIR PROVING APPARATUS WITH BURNER CUT-OFF CAPABILITY AND METHOD OF PERFORMING THE SAME
A combustion air proving (CAP) system for a burner assembly having a burner for providing heated air to a location, a controller, and a back plate, where outside air is fed to the burner via a conduit. The CAP system is connected to an inlet of the system. An outlet of the system is connected to the burner via the back plate. A damper within the system is translatable between open and closed positions for allowing and blocking air flow, respectively. A sensor measures an air flow parameter of air flow to the burner. The sensor communicates with the controller, which shuts down the burner if the parameter measured by the sensor meets a predetermined threshold value. An assembly installer may test for proper sensor and controller functions by translating the damper to the closed position and blocking outside air flow.
FUEL SUBMETERING USING FIRING RATE SIGNALS
A fuel sub-metering mechanism for appliances that consume fuel. Each appliance may have a firing rate indicator. An individual fuel line may be connected to each appliance. A main fuel line may be connected to individual fuel lines. A meter may be connected to the main fuel line. A processor may be connected to the firing rate indicators and to the meter. The meter may measure total fuel consumption by the appliances. The processor may provide a sub-meter estimate of fuel consumed by each appliance. The sub-meter estimate may be based at least in part on a firing rate of the respective appliance and the total fuel consumption as indicated by the meter.
Combustion air proving apparatus with burner cut-off capability and method of performing the same
A combustion air proving (CAP) system for a burner assembly having a burner for providing heated air to a location, a controller, and a back plate, where outside air is fed to the burner via a conduit. The CAP system, is connected to an inlet of the system. An outlet of the system is connected to the burner via the back plate. A damper within the system is translatable between open and closed positions for allowing and blocking air flow, respectively. A sensor measures an air flow parameter of air flow to the burner. The sensor communicates with the controller, which shuts down the burner if the parameter measured by the sensor meets a predetermined threshold value. Described embodiments include a system, method, and apparatus. The system includes a sensor device configured to measure an unburned fuel component in an exhaust stream generated by a gas-fueled combustion device. The system includes a combustion analysis circuit configured to generate a quality of combustion information responsive to the measured unburned fuel component. The system includes a user interface configured to display the quality of combustion information in a human perceivable format. In an embodiment, the system includes a combustion component controller configured to regulate an aspect of a combustion component delivered to the gas-fueled combustion device in response to the combustion management selection entered by a human user.
Gas Burner for Cooking Appliances
A cooking appliance gas burner system includes a gas burner adapted to receive gas flow from a gas feed line via a venturi. A flow sensor includes a gas flow input in fluid connection with the venturi and configured to measure pressure at the venturi. The flow sensor further includes a differential pressure sensor configured to measure a pressure differential at the venturi between a maximum burner air/gas mixture flow rate and a user input burner air/gas mixture flow rate that is input by a user as a requested percentage of the maximum burner air/gas mixture flow rate. A proportional valve is configured to modulate the air/gas mixture flow rate into the gas burner. A controller is configured to read burner air/gas mixture flow rates from the flow sensor and regulate the burner air/gas mixture flow rate via the proportional valve based upon a user-defined input.
