Multi-component whole house fan system
11573021 · 2023-02-07 · ·

Apparatus and method for ventilating a building structure, such as a residence. In some embodiments, a ventilation system includes a damper assembly which extends through an interior substrate (e.g., an interior wall) of the structure and an exhaust assembly which extends through an exterior substrate (e.g., an exterior wall of the structure and which is in communication with the damper assembly via a control circuit. The interior wall separates a conditioned space and an unconditioned space. The exhaust assembly is initially activated to vent exhaust air from the unconditioned space while a door of the damper assembly remains closed. The door is subsequently opened responsive to a measured environmental parameter, such as a differential pressure between the conditioned and unconditioned spaces, to generate a combined airflow that passes from the conditioned space to the unconditioned space and then to the exterior of the structure.

DAMPER HAVING A PLURALITY OF BLADE ASSEMBLIES

A damper includes first and second blade assemblies disposed next to one another and rotatably supported by a frame to rotate together between open and closed positions. Each of the first and second blade assemblies includes a shaft and first and second blades connected to the shaft. The first and second blade assemblies have respective first and second seal members connected to the blades thereof. In the closed position, the first seal member abuts the second blade assembly at a first contact point to form a first seal, and the second seal member abuts the second blade assembly at a second contact point to form a second seal. The first contact point is further from a blade rotation axis of the first blade assembly than the second contact point. The second contact point is further from a blade rotation axis of the second blade assembly than the first contact point.

Animal house ceiling vent bulb seal

A ceiling vent assembly has a frame and a pair of louvers pivotably mounted in the frame such that each of the louvers pivots between an open position and a closed position. Each of the louvers has a pivot end, wherein the pivot end of a first louver of the pair of louvers is located adjacent to but spaced apart from the pivot end of a second louver of the pair of louvers. The ceiling vent has a sealing mechanism positioned in the space between the first and second louvers so as to press on the pivot ends of the first and second louvers such that the sealing mechanism reduces the flow of air through the space. When the first and second louvers pivot between the open and closed positions, the pivot end of the first and second louvers slide relative the sealing mechanism.

A control damper for a housing of an air-handling unit includes a rigid main body rotatable about a first rotational axis. A sealing element extends radially outwardly from a first side of the rigid main body. The sealing element is formed of a resilient material. The sealing element further includes a resilient lip extending outwardly from a distal end thereof. The lip has a first series of undulations formed in an outer edge thereof, wherein the undulations form a wave-shaped profile in the outer edge of the lip.

THERMALLY ADAPTIVE ENCLOSURE VENT

An enclosure vent is operable to be mounted to a building that presents an interior space and to move in response to a change in vent temperature. The vent includes a vent frame and a laminated composite vent panel. The vent panel includes outer and inner panel layers and an intermediate connecting structure that connects the panel layers relative to one another along an interface defined between the panel layers. The outer and inner panel layers have, respectively, first and second coefficients of thermal expansion that are different from each other and cause expansion and contraction of the corresponding panel layers along the interface. The connecting structure permits expansion and/or contraction of each panel layer in response to a vent temperature change so that the panel flexes.

Animal house ceiling vent seal

A ceiling vent assembly has a frame that is open at its top and bottom and a pair of louvers pivotably mounted in the frame such that each louver pivots between an open position and a closed position relative to the frame. Each louver has a pivot end, wherein the pivot end is located adjacent to but spaced apart from the pivot end of a second louver of the pair of louvers. The ceiling vent assembly has a sealing mechanism with a flange extending from the pivot end of each louver of the pair of louvers, wherein the flange from the first louver contacts the flange from the second louver in a space between the louvers such that the sealing mechanism reduces the flow of air through the space when the first and second louvers are in either the open or closed positions.

ANIMAL HOUSE CEILING VENT SEAL

A ceiling vent assembly for use in a ceiling of an animal house. The ceiling vent assembly has a frame that is open at its top and bottom and a pair of louvers pivotably mounted in the frame such that each louver of the pair of louvers pivots between an open position and a closed position relative the frame. Each louver of the pair louvers has a pivot end, wherein the pivot end of a first louver of the pair of louvers is located adjacent to but spaced apart from the pivot end of a second louver of the pair of louvers.

DAMPER WITH SPRING THRUST BEARING AND FLUSH END CAP

A damper of a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a damper blade having a blade body with a hollow portion extending to an end of the blade body. The damper also includes an axle defining an axis about which the damper blade is configured to rotate, where the axle extends from the end of the blade body. The damper also includes a spring thrust bearing having a spring thrust bearing opening through which the axle extends. The spring thrust bearing is configured to support an axial load of the damper blade. The damper also includes an end cap disposed within the hollow portion of the blade body such that the end cap is flush with the end of the blade body.
