Passive ventilation control system
11460201 · 2022-10-04 ·

A passive ventilation control system and method. The system includes passive vents throughout a building. The vents may be arranged in multiple sets, with each set being substantially vertically aligned through multiple floors or the entire height of the building. Sensors are positioned inside and/or outside the building for sensing different environmental parameters or atmospheric conditions. The sensors send signals to a controller, which automatically adjusts airflow through the vents in response to the signals from the sensors.

Thermal shell, in particular for a building

The present invention relates to a thermal shell for a building, apt to constitute a multi-layer system formed by three integral elements having, respectively, from the outside towards the inside: an external peripheral wall/casing with the function of thermal insulating wall; an interspace filled with air to be conditioned; an internal wall/casing with the function of heat-radiating wall/casing; comprising: a covering structure (10) positioned around the building (1), or part of said building (1), the covering structure (10) comprising, proceeding from the outside towards the inside of the building (1): a coating (11), an insulating layer (16) and an interspace (12); the interspace (12) containing air and forming a closed and isolated room with respect to the surrounding environment; means (13) of thermal conditioning of the air contained in the interspace, so that the shell defines an internal wall/casing.

Methods and systems of modifying air flow at building structures

Provided in one embodiment is a method of modifying an air flow at least one location of a building structure, comprising: generating a first air flow at the at least one location of the building structure; and modifying a second air flow exterior to the building structure using the generated first air flow. An apparatus configured to modified an air flow is also provided.

NON-POWERED VENT

A non-powered ventilator that prevents backdraft by forming a vortex forming area by internal and external airflows so as to smoothly exhaust indoor airflow to outside is proposed. The non-powered ventilator includes: a fixing member provided with a fixing flange part; a finishing cap part provided with a finishing cone part, an opening part, and a finishing flange part forming fastening holes; a discharging cap part respectively provided with a discharging cone part, a bent edge part, a discharging flange part, and fastening holes; a backdraft prevention member provided with a hemispherical curved plate body, at least three support legs, and opening parts, and a first bent part as well as a circular groove; and fastening members fastened and assembled by bolts and nuts through the fastening holes of the discharging cap part, the backdraft prevention member, and the fixing member.

Variable slot length adjustment vent

A vent with an adjustable baffle is disclosed. As the baffle is rotated away from the frame of the vent a corresponding opening is formed though which air may flow. The vent further has features which constrict the width of the opening in response to how far the baffle is opened. When the baffle is partially opened, these constricting features block a portion of the vent opening resulting in an opening of a certain width. The baffle can be opened further to a point beyond the constricting feature so that a wider vent opening is created. The design allows for more, and easier control of air flow in a system and can increase the distance air coming though the vent moves into the space before it descends.

An elongated vent includes a first piece and a second piece. The first piece has a first upper portion, a first middle portion and a first lower portion. The second piece is a mirror image of the first piece, the second piece having a second upper portion, a second middle portion and a second lower portion. The first and second pieces are joined together at their respective first and second middle portions, wherein each of the first and second middle portions includes a plurality of apertures therethrough, to form a perforated panel. The first and second upper portions form a first channel; the first and second lower portions form a second channel.

VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WITH A PASSIVE EMERGENCY COOLING MODE
20200390002 · 2020-12-10 ·

A ventilation and air conditioning system (6) is for a room (2) containing a heat source and the ventilation and air conditioning system (6) comprising a cooled air supply (12) and a ventilation duct (10). The ventilation duct (10) includes a primary inlet (24) connected to the cooled air supply (12) and an outlet (14) leading into the room (2). A number of heat storage elements (30) is arranged inside the ventilation duct (10) between the primary inlet (24) and the outlet (14), such that during operation of the cooled air supply (12) there is a forced stream of cooled air through the ventilation duct (10), thereby cooling and preferably freezing the heat storage elements (30). A secondary inlet (36) into the ventilation duct (10) is in flow communication with the room (2) and during operation of the cooled air supply (12) is closed by a damper (40). The damper (40) is designed to automatically open in a passive manner when the forced stream of cooled air from the cooled air supply (12) stops, such that a natural convection airflow through the ventilation duct (10) is supported, and the natural convection airflow is cooled by transferring heat to the heat storage elements (30).

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONVECTIVE SILL INSULATION

The present application relates to an arrangement for reducing thermal energy loss through a sill assembly of the type used with a door or window. The sill assembly includes at least one sill member. The at least one sill member has a hollow region therein. The sill assembly further includes a baffle disposed within the at least one sill member. The baffle spans a length of the at least one sill member and divides the at least one sill member into a plurality of chambers thereby limiting interaction of warmer air and cooler air within the at least one sill member. The baffle reduces heat transfer through the hollow region via convection.
