The present disclosure provides an air distribution system comprised of a central unit connected to a ventilation system and a control system. The central unit is responsible for re-directing ambient air through an evaporator and condenser coil in order to heat and cool said air and separately distribute it through the ventilation system. A control system is connected to the ventilation system, which allows for either hot or cool air that is compartmented in the ventilation system to be distributed in the rooms. By doing so, the air distribution system is able to manage the various demands for simultaneous hot and cold air demands.

The invention is characterized in that it allows switching, the cooling or heating register (32, 34; 58, 60) is only opened as needed if the temperature in at least on of the supply air channels (20,22) is insufficient for cooling or heating the room (44, 46, 48) to be climate controlled.

The supply of air—volume control—into the mixing chamber from the supply ducts is controlled in each case via flaps with a plurality of flap leaves and/or a plurality of flap units each having a plurality of intercoupled flap leaves. According to the disclosure, the flap leaves and/or the flap units are activated individually, and an individual opening position of the respective flap leaves or of the flap units with the flap leaves is made possible.

Linearization of airflow through zone dampers of an HVAC system

A control system can provide a linear behavior of airflow as a function of damper position of each zone damper in an HVAC system. The control system incrementally closes each zone damper from a fully open position to a fully closed position, and records static pressure measurements with each change in damper position. Then, using a mathematical model that is derived from the second fan law, a correction is calculated for each damper position of each zone damper based on the recorded static pressure measurements to provide corrected damper positions at which the airflow through the zone damper exhibits a linear behavior. The corrected damper positions are stored and used during an operational cycle of the HVAC system to obtain a precise airflow through the zone dampers.

An air conditioning system includes an outdoor air latent cooling treatment stage providing parallel airflow with a return air sensible cooling treatment stage. A mixer mixes the treated outdoor air with the return air to form the conditioned space supply air. A first relative humidity controller monitors the outdoor air relative humidity and separates the outdoor air from saturation to maintain relative humidity in outdoor air ducting below a predetermined mould growth limit. A second relative humidity controller monitors the conditioned space supply air relative humidity and separates the space supply air from saturation to maintain relative humidity in space supply air ducting below a predetermined mould growth limit. The outdoor air latent cooling treatment stage includes a dehumidification heat exchanger, combination pre-cooling and heat reclaim heat exchangers, or a heat transfer pump. The return air sensible cooling treatment stage includes at least a sensible cooling heat exchanger.
