Systems and methods for fault detection using smart valves
A fault detection system for detecting a flow restriction in an air handler is provided. The system includes a coil, air and liquid temperature sensors, a smart valve and a notification device. The coil is located in an air stream of the air handler. The air temperature sensors are located in the air stream, one sensor determining an air temperature of air upstream of the coil and another determines an air temperature downstream of the coil. The liquid temperature sensors determine a liquid temperature entering the coil and exiting the coil. The smart valve includes a controller in communication with the liquid temperature sensors and at least one of the air temperature sensors that uses the measured air temperature downstream of the coil and a valve actuator position to determine whether the coil is operating at a reduced capacity. The notification device communicates with the controller of the smart valve.
COMBINATION SPACE AND HOT WATER HEATER
A combination space and water heating apparatus includes a frame enclosing a water heating assembly and an air heating assembly. The water heating assembly is positioned in a top front portion of the frame and supplies hot water in response to a hot water demand. The water heating assembly includes inlet and outlet water connections through a top portion of the water heating assembly. The air heating assembly is positioned in a rear and bottom portion of the frame and supplies heated air in response to a space heating demand. Maintenance access to the air heating assembly is solely through a front section of the bottom portion of the frame.

Flameless heating system
A mobile heating system includes an enclosure defining a plenum that houses a fan and an internal combustion engine. The heating system also includes a hydraulic circuit including a hydraulic pump operably coupled to the internal combustion engine and a first heat exchanger located in the plenum and in fluid communication with the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic circuit also includes a hydraulic motor operably coupled to the fan wherein the hydraulic motor is in fluid communication with and driven by the hydraulic pump. A first valve is disposed between the hydraulic pump and the heat exchanger and is configured to restrict fluid flow and to increase a fluid pumping pressure of the hydraulic pump. A second valve is located upstream of the first valve and is configured to selectively direct hydraulic fluid between the first valve and the hydraulic motor.
Systems and methods for providing airflow in furnace systems
A heating system, includes a furnace that is configured to heat air to be provided to a conditioned space, a pressure sensor configured to collect sensor data indicative of a pressure of air within the furnace; a fan configured to supply the heated air to the conditioned space, and a motor configured to drive the fan. Additionally, the heating system includes processing circuitry communicatively coupled to the pressure sensor and the motor. The processing circuitry is configured to control the motor based upon the sensor data such that an amount of airflow supplied to the conditioned space is constantly supplied by the fan.
Combustion device capable of measuring gas use amount, and method for measuring gas use amount
The objective of the present invention is to provide a combustion device capable of informing an amount of used gas, in which an air of gas temperature is reflected, to a user and a method of measuring the amount of used gas. To this end, the combustion device includes: a burner configured to burn gas; a blower configured to supply air for combustion to the burner; gas valves configured to supply gas for combustion to the burner; a gas temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature of gas supplied to the burner or the blower; and a control unit configured to control the number of revolutions of the blower, calculate a first amount of used gas for a present operating heat quantity burned according to a signal input by a user, and compensate the calculated first amount of used gas with a measured gas temperature measured by the gas temperature sensor to calculate a second amount of used gas.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING A SMART VALVE TO CONTROL CONDITIONED AIR
An air handler unit (AHU) in communication with a building automation system (BAS) or through direct programming of one or more smart valves within the AHU operates to meter an amount of water that flows through a coil in the AHU. In one embodiment, the BAS transmits a temperature setpoint signal to the smart valve and allows the smart valve to control its valve position without additional input from the BAS. In another embodiment, the AHU includes a master smart valve and a second valve. The BAS provides the temperature setpoint signal to the master smart valve, which in turn provides another temperature setpoint signal to the second valve. The second valve may take the form of a slave smart valve or a slave non-smart valve.
