ABSORPTION COOLING SYSTEM WITH FALLING FILM AND/OR AGITATED THIN FILM EVAPORATOR
A solar powered absorption cooling system employing refrigerant-absorbent solutions such as water and lithium bromide and hybrid storage capabilities, and a method of employing the system in refrigeration and air conditioning units. The system includes a first temperature control valve and second temperature control valve that together regulate the flow of solar heating fluid into the generator and substantially reduce absorbent crystal formation.
Integrated Hybrid Solar Absorption Cooling System
A system and method for the applying solar heating to an absorption cooling system. Described is either single or double absorption cooling systems in which in a first embodiment the normal generator function of a traditional absorption cooling system is removed from the absorption cooling system and is placed within a solar parabolic trough that acts as a hybrid solar absorber/generator for the absorption cooling system. In a second embodiment the normal condenser function of a traditional absorption cooling system is also removed from the absorption cooling system and placed within the solar parabolic trough, resulting in a hybrid absorber/generator/condenser of the absorption cooling system.

Purge system for closed-cycle absorption heat pumps
A high-efficiency, motorless purge system for closed-cycle absorption heat pumps, adapted for both absorption heat transformers and absorption chillers, using a series of valves to control the entry and exit of absorbent solution into a low-pressure, secondary absorption vessel. A small percentage of the total circulating solution is forced under pressure into the secondary absorption vessel via a spray nozzle, causing adiabatic absorption of absorbate vapor by the solution. Non-condensable gases accumulate in the secondary absorber until a certain vapor pressure is reached, upon which, gas, and possibly liquid, are transferred to an exhaust vessel having an exit vent for non-condensable gases. In an absorption chiller system, the secondary absorber has an internal heat exchanger to lower the temperature of the solution within, to facilitate the absorption process.
