The air conditioning device compares a current evaporation temperature or condensing temperature with a reference value, of an evaporation temperature or an condensing temperature, corresponding to a lower limit flow rate, of a gaseous refrigerant, required for refrigerating machine oil not to accumulate in, but to flow through, the gas branch pipes, and calculates an amount of the refrigerating machine oil accumulated in a gas branch pipe which does not satisfy the lower limit flow rate. When the calculated amount exceeds a set amount, the air conditioning device performs oil collecting operation, and controls the oil collecting operation in view of a flow rate of a gaseous refrigerant in gas branch pipes.

A motor drive apparatus includes a power converter including an inverter having an upper arm and a lower arm, the inverter being configured to control an operation of an electric motor, and a drive controller configured to apply a dead time for preventing a short circuit between the upper arm and the lower arm, and to control the power converter. The drive controller is configured to control the power converter by switching a first mode in which a first correction value representing a time used to correct a voltage drop due to the dead time is employed to control the power converter, and a second mode in which a second correction value smaller than the first correction value is employed to control the power converter.

The intermediate unit includes: an ejector that is configured to pressurize the refrigerant evaporated in the use-side heat exchanger that functions as the evaporator by using a driving flow; and a gas-liquid separator into which the refrigerant flowing out from the ejector flows.

A safety system for a heat pump system includes a plurality of valve units each having refrigerant pipe portions with control valves, a refrigerant leakage detector, and a casing accommodating the valves and the refrigerant leakage detector and formed with first and second openings. The safety system further includes a connection structure connecting the internal spaces of the casings via the first and second openings, and a discharge structure connected to the connection structure or one of the casings and configured to discharge air from the internal space of the casing in which a refrigerant leakage has occurred. The casing has first and second lateral faces facing different directions, and the first opening is formed in the first lateral face and the second opening is formed in the second lateral face.

An air-conditioning system includes: an air conditioner including a refrigerant circuit formed by connecting an outdoor unit and a plurality of indoor units together, the air conditioner being configured to condition air in a plurality of indoor spaces; at least one countermeasure device provided in correspondence with at least one of the plurality of indoor spaces and configured to operate during leakage of a refrigerant; a plurality of detectors configured to detect a concentration of the refrigerant, at least one of the detectors being provided in each of the plurality of indoor spaces; and a control unit configured to operate all of the at least one countermeasure device if at least one of the concentrations of the refrigerant respectively detected by the plurality of detectors exceeds a predetermined value.

A controller performs a heating operation and a heating-defrosting operation, in which one of the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger functions as an evaporator, an other one the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger functions as a condenser. When a temperature of the indoor heat exchanger by a temperature detection unit is treated as a first temperature, and a temperature of the indoor heat exchanger by the temperature detection unit is treated as a second temperature, the controller reduces a rotation speed of an indoor fan in a case where the second temperature is lower than the first temperature and where a difference between the first temperature and the second temperature is greater than or equal to a first setting value.

A first use side unit includes a first use side heat exchanger and a first use side fan. A second use side unit includes a second use side heat exchanger and a second use side fan. When the first use side unit receives a request for the high-temperature air and the second use side unit receives no request for the high-temperature air, the air conditioning apparatus shifts to a mode that performs control to reduce the airflow volume of the second use side fan or make the airflow volume of the second use side fan zero such as reducing the number of revolutions of the second use side fan in another room by 40 rpm.
