Isolated evaporator coil for a transport climate control system
Technologies described herein are directed to isolating or insulating at least portions of an evaporator coil within a climate control unit (CCU) of a TCCS so as to reduce or even eliminate adverse effects caused by a leaked working fluid. Such adverse effects may include a threat of ignition, asphyxiation of occupants, damage to cargo, and other harmful effects caused by emission of a noxious gas. A leak isolation structure is provided to isolate evaporator tubes of an evaporator coil from at least one of a plurality of turns of the evaporator coil.
Voltage conversion system for transport refrigeration system
A voltage conversion system includes an energy storage device; a power conversion unit connected to the energy storage device, the power conversion unit comprising: an inductor, the inductor comprising a number of coils that are non-coupled or weakly coupled, with a coupling coefficient less than 0.05; a multi-phase boost stage coupled to the inductor, wherein the multiphase boost stage comprises a number of phases that equals the number of coils; an inverter coupled to the multiphase boost stage; and a load coupled to the power conversion unit.
Transformable Refrigerated Cargo Containers
In an example, a transformable cargo container for use with ground and air transportation vehicles is disclosed. The cargo container includes a main container body defining a storage chamber therein and including at least one inlet. The cargo container also includes a transformable assembly coupled to the main container body and positioned at an exterior of the main container body. The transformable assembly includes one or more supplemental containers and one or more supply ducts, at least one of the supplemental container(s) being configured to house refrigeration equipment. The transformable assembly is movable between an aircraft configuration and a ground configuration. Based on the transformable assembly being in either the aircraft configuration or the ground configuration, the refrigeration equipment is configured to supply coolant into the main container body via the supply duct(s) and the inlet(s).
Method of manufacturing an enclosure for a transport refrigeration unit, transport refrigeration unit and transport unit
A method of manufacturing a transport refrigeration unit is provided. The method includes providing an enclosure including an outer layer and a supporter. Providing the enclosure includes supplying one of a first material and a second material to a mold. This also includes supplying the other of the first material and the second material on the one of the first material and the second material that is supplied to the mold. Also, this includes curing the first material and the second material integrally that are supplied to the mold. The first material forms into the outer layer and the second material forms into the supporter. The second material includes a plurality of reinforcing fibers.
Refrigeration system for chilled storage container
A dual-phase refrigeration system for chilled storage containers (CSC) aboard boats maintains cold temperatures in the CSC by chilling the airspace in the upper portion of the CSC. A cooling liquid is circulated through coils installed on an interior sidewall about an upper margin of the CSC. The cooling liquid chills the air in the upper portion of the CSC which creates a thermodynamic airflow within the CSC which aids in cooling. The temperature of the cooling liquid is maintained by a heat exchange with a Non-Ozone Depleting Hydrofluorocarbon (NODHFC) refrigerant which, in turn, is cooled by a heat exchange with circulating water sourced from the body of water supporting the boat. If ice is added to the CSC, the cooling liquid in the coils reduces the air temperature differential across air/ice interface and maintains the quality of the ice.
REFRIGERATION APPARATUS FOR SHIPPING, AND SHIPPING CONTAINER
A casing is provided with a partition portion extending in a vertical direction so as to partition an outdoor space and an accommodation chamber from each other. The partition portion has an opening for providing communication between the outdoor space and the accommodation chamber. An eaves portion is provided above the opening.
ISOLATED EVAPORATOR COIL FOR A TRANSPORT CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM

Such adverse effects may include a threat of ignition, asphyxiation of occupants, damage to cargo, and other harmful effects caused by emission of a noxious gas. A leak isolation structure is provided to isolate evaporator tubes of an evaporator coil from at least one of a plurality of turns of the evaporator coil.
Transport refrigeration unit
A transportation refrigeration unit (24) to provide a flow of supply air to a selected space includes a compressor to compress a flow of refrigerant and an engine (36) powered by a flow of fuel and operably connected to the compressor to drive the compressor. An evaporator circulates the flow of refrigerant therethrough to cool the supply air and includes a substantially unitary evaporator housing (50) having a supply air inlet opening (52) and a supply air outlet opening (56). An evaporator coil (32) is located in the evaporator housing, the flow of refrigerant circulating across the evaporator coil. An evaporator fan (34) is located in the evaporator housing to urge the supply airflow into the evaporator housing via the supply air inlet opening (52), across the evaporator coil (32) and out of the evaporator housing through the supply air outlet opening (56). The evaporator fan (34) can be located upstream or downstream of the evaporator coil (32).
If ice is added to the CSC, the cooling liquid in the coils reduces the air temperature.

An example transport refrigeration system includes first and second refrigeration circuits configured to cool first and second transport compartments, respectively. An electric machine powers the first and second refrigeration circuits. A controller is configured to monitor a temperature of the electric machine, and reduce a cooling capacity of a selected one of the first and second refrigeration circuits based on the temperature exceeding a first threshold.
