Defrosting apparatus and refrigerator comprising same
A defrosting apparatus comprises a heater case comprising a heat pipe seating part formed to extend from one surface thereof in a recessed shape and a heater receiving part formed to extend to be parallel with the heat pipe seating part. The defrosting apparatus also includes a heater which is mounted in the heater receiving part so as to emit heat when power is applied thereto, a heat pipe which has a flow path through which a working fluid filled therein flows, which has a part seated on the heat pipe seating part, and which is disposed to be adjacent to a cooling pipe of an evaporator such that heat is radiated to the cooling pipe of the evaporator by means of the working fluid at a high temperature which is heated by the heater and then is transferred, and a holder which is detachably coupled to the heater case so as to cover the heat pipe seated on the heat pipe seating part.
Freezers and operating methods using adaptive defrost
A freezer and method of operating a freezer are provided with an adaptive defrost cycle. The freezer includes a controller that operates the freezer to: provide cooling to a cabinet via an evaporator during periodic operational cycles, monitor a time elapsed since a most recent defrost cycle, determine whether the time elapsed is greater than a current defrost interval, and perform a defrost cycle if so. The controller varies the current defrost interval between a first, larger time value and a second, smaller time value based on a plurality of trigger signals in response to various operating characteristics of the freezer monitored by sensors. After each defrost cycle is completed, the current defrost interval is reset to the first, larger time value.
MANUAL DEFROST MECHANISM
A defrost mechanism which includes a first link cooperating with the actuating pin defined by a first end having a pivot and a second end fastened with a bellow lever, a second link defining a third end pivotably supported in said pivot and a fourth end slidably engaged in an adjusting lever and a switch configured to cut off power supply of the refrigerator, said switch forming a part of the electrical circuit supplying power to the refrigerator, said switch configured to be operated by the manual actuation of the actuating pin. The defrost mechanism offers simplicity of construction having less parts and reduces costs involved in manufacturing.
AN ICE MAKER FOR A REFRIGERATOR AND METHOD FOR SYNCHRONIZING AN IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ICE MAKING CYCLE AND AN IMPLEMENTATION OF A DEFROST CYCLE OF AN EVAPORATOR IN A REFRIGERATOR
An ice maker (126) including an ice maker frame having an air inlet provided at a first end thereof. An ice tray (144) is rotatably secured to the ice maker frame and configured to form ice pieces therein. An air handler (142) includes an outlet diffuser having a central body defined by a first wall—and a radially spaced apart second wall, wherein a plurality of radially extending fins are disposed between the first and second walls. Each of the fins is spaced apart, one from the other, along an outer peripheral surface of the first wall. In an installed position, the outlet diffuser is disposed directly adjacent the air inlet at the first end of the ice maker frame. A method is provided for synchronizing an ice making cycle of an ice making unit and a defrost cycle of an evaporator.
HEAT TRANSFER APPARATUS
Disclosed herein is a heat transfer device (2), the heat transfer device comprising a heat exchanger (10) driven by movement of a fluid, a heat transfer cavity (6) and a fan (12) for creating a circulating gas flow between the heat exchanger and the heat transfer cavity. The heat transfer device (2) includes: a housing having an opening (14) for allowing an object to be inserted into the heat transfer cavity (6); an outlet valve (52) for exhausting gas and/or liquid from the heat transfer cavity (6); and a controller arranged to operate the outlet valve (52). The heat transfer device (2) may, for example, take the form of a cooling device for rapidly cooling a drinking vessel such as a beer glass.
Refrigerating and air-conditioning apparatus for use in a defrosting operation
A refrigerating and air-conditioning apparatus performs, even during a heating operation under air conditions leading to formation of frost, a defrosting operation while simultaneously continuing a heating operation and that improves comfort through heating by ensuring an appropriate amount of ventilation. A plurality of refrigeration cycles that are capable of independently performing a heating operation and a defrosting operation, are provided. A ventilation damper of an indoor unit in which a refrigeration cycle that performs a defrosting operation is installed is closed during a defrosting operation, and a ventilation damper of an indoor unit in which a refrigeration cycle that performs a heating operation is installed is controlled to achieve a required amount of ventilation corresponding to the indoor ventilation state.
Refrigerator and method for controlling the same
A method for controlling a refrigerator includes providing an initial input value to a heater configured to supply heat to an evaporator, performing a continuous operation of the heater based on the initial input value to increase a temperature of the evaporator to a predetermined temperature, determining a period of time taken to increase the temperature of the evaporator to the predetermined temperature, determining whether the period of time is within a reference period of time, operating the heater based on a first input value that is equal to the initial input value based on a determination that the period of time is outside of the reference period of time, and operating the heater based on a second input value that is less than the initial input value based on a determination that the period of time is within the reference period of time.
