The filter assembly further includes an electric motor configured to move the filter cartridge along an axial direction by rotating a gear coupled to the electric motor such that the gear meshes with the gear rack. The filter cartridge is movable between a first position in which the filter cartridge and manifold are not in fluid communication, and a second position in which the filter cartridge and the manifold are in fluid communication. A refrigerator appliance having the filter assembly is also provided.

PERFORMANCE INDICATION DEVICE FOR A FILTER
20180008916 · 2018-01-11 ·

A performance indication device for a filter is provided. The performance indication device includes a water metering device to convert the energy of water flowing through the filter into mechanical rotation of a drive gear. A gear reduction assembly operably couples the drive gear to a valve gear and reduces the rotational speed of the valve gear relative to the drive gear. A flow controlling device is operably coupled to the valve gear and is configured to reduce or terminate the flow of water through the performance indication device and the filter when a target flow capacity is reached. The performance indication device thus provides an accurate indication to the user as to when the filter capacity has been expended without the need for a complex control system or communication link or any modification of the appliance in which the filter is installed.

WATER ROUTING FROM CABINET TO DOOR OF A REFRIGERATOR WITH ARTICULATED HINGE

A refrigerator comprising: a cabinet; a door operably connected to the cabinet, the door having a closed position relative to the cabinet and an opened position relative to the cabinet, and the door transitions from the closed position to the opened position in a non-circular path; a liquid outlet disposed at the cabinet; and a liquid receiver disposed at the door, the liquid receiver configured to receive liquid exiting the liquid outlet when the door is in the closed position but not in the opened position. The refrigerator can further include a gasket adjacent to the liquid receiver and a gasket adjacent to the liquid outlet. When the door is in the closed position, the gasket of the door can cooperate with the gasket of the cabinet to form a sealed channel to seal liquid transfer from the liquid outlet to the liquid receiver for use at the door.

WATER PURIFIER

A water purifier includes a water purification unit, and an ice making unit. The water purification unit includes: a water filter for filtering introduced raw water to provide the purified water and unfiltered living water; a purified water tank including a first storage for storing unfiltered water, a second storage for storing the purified water discharged from the water filter, and a separation membrane formed of an impermeable material which independently partitions the first storage and the second storage and has elasticity, wherein the second storage shrinks when the first storage expands, and the first storage shrinks when the second storage expands; a flow channel connecting the water filter, the purified water tank, and the ice making unit to provide a passage through which the raw water, the living water, and the purified water flow; and a valve unit including a plurality of valve modules.

Food preservation system with filtered water supply to icemaker

A food preservation system including a refrigerator and a freezer, wherein the refrigerator and freezer are independent from each other; the refrigerator comprising a fresh food compartment; the freezer including an icemaker and means for receiving filtered water; a water filter located in the fresh food compartment; a water supply line leading into an inflow side of the water filter; a refrigerator inlet valve connected to an inlet side of the water filter and a water distribution valve, wherein the water distribution valve comprises an auxiliary icemaker water valve, the distribution valve connected to an outflow side of the water filter; tubing connecting an outflow side of the auxiliary icemaker water valve to the icemaker; and a refrigerator main controller, wherein the refrigerator main controller is in operable communication with the refrigerator inlet valve and the auxiliary icemaker water valve is provided, Methods to make ice with filtered water are also provided.

A method for assembling a bezel unit with a base unit installed in an article includes inserting a foot of a first attachment leg extending from a first position on the bezel unit into a first receiving cavity including by movement of the bezel unit in a first direction and moving the bezel unit in a second direction normal to the first direction. Moving the bezel in the second direction causes mutual engagement between an exterior profile of the foot with an inside profile of the cavity, both the exterior profile of the foot and the inside profile of the cavity tapering inwardly in the second direction. The mutual engagement between the first exterior profile and the inside profile aligns the bezel unit with the base unit with respect to the first and second planes.

External water-purifying filter case, installation structure thereof and sterilizing method using the same

An installation structure of an external filter case for a refrigerator is provided. The filter case may include a main body that provides an inner space in which an internal line may be installed and water filters may be installed, and a cover that covers the inner space of the main body and is detachably coupled with the main body. The main body may have an open front side and may include bosses that protrude from its bottom face. The cover may include insertion holes into which the bosses may be inserted. A lower portion of the main body may be coupled with a lower portion of the cover. Magnets may be installed in upper portions of the main body and the cover, respectively, such that the main body and the cover may be coupled with each other by a magnetic force.

FILTER ASSEMBLY

A filter assembly comprises an outer casing, filters and a pipe member connected to first, second and third filters and comprising an inlet flow path and an outlet flow path. The inlet flow path comprises a first inlet flow path connected to the first filter, a second inlet flow path connected to the second filter, a third inlet flow path connected to the third filter, and an inflow member comprising a branch point to allow water to flow in parallel through the first inlet flow path and the second inlet flow path. The outlet flow path comprises a first outlet flow path for water to be discharged from the first filter, and a second outlet flow path for water to be discharged from the second filter. Water discharged from the first outlet flow path from the second outlet flow path is guided and introduced into the third inlet flow path.

Leak detection assembly for use with a filter assembly for a refrigerator appliance

A filter assembly and a method of operating the same to detect water leaks are provided. The filter assembly includes a filter housing for receiving a filter cartridge and at least partially defining a drain trough positioned below the filter cartridge for collecting leaked water. A light source is positioned proximate the drain trough for directing light through the drain trough and a light sensor is positioned proximate the drain trough for sensing the light directed through the drain trough. A controller uses the light sensor to monitor the light generated by the light source and determines that a leak exists when an intensity of sensed light is reduced by the leaked water.
