Refrigeration water dispensing system

A water dispensing system for a refrigeration appliance includes a three-way connector operably coupled to an inlet water source and configured to direct incoming water from the inlet water source into an ambient water holding portion and a cold water tank. A water dispenser is coupled with said refrigeration appliance. A three-way control valve is configured to provide water to the water dispenser from at least one of the ambient water holding portion and the cold water tank. A valve actuator is slidable between first, second, and third positions. The three-way control valve is configured to provide water from the ambient water holding portion when the valve actuator is in the first position, from the cold water tank when the valve actuator is in the second position, and from both the ambient water holding portion and the cold water tank when the valve actuator is in the third position.

WATER ROUTING FROM CABINET TO DOOR OF A REFRIGERATOR WITH ARTICULATED HINGE

A refrigerator comprising: a cabinet; a door operably connected to the cabinet, the door having a closed position relative to the cabinet and an opened position relative to the cabinet, and the door transitions from the closed position to the opened position in a non-circular path; a liquid outlet disposed at the cabinet; and a liquid receiver disposed at the door, the liquid receiver configured to receive liquid exiting the liquid outlet when the door is in the closed position but not in the opened position. The refrigerator can further include a gasket adjacent to the liquid receiver and a gasket adjacent to the liquid outlet. When the door is in the closed position, the gasket of the door can cooperate with the gasket of the cabinet to form a sealed channel to seal liquid transfer from the liquid outlet to the liquid receiver for use at the door.

The water valve may be mounted upstream from the liquid reservoir to selectively direct water thereto based on the detected water volume. The liquid dispenser may extend from the liquid reservoir and through the interior surface to an outlet aperture to selectively dispense water from the liquid reservoir.

An actuator support is operably coupled to the lower surface of the shelf. A load cell is disposed on the actuator support, wherein the load cell sends a signal in response to movement by the actuator support. A controller is operably coupled to the load cell, wherein the controller activates a water dispensing sequence to dispense water via the water dispenser tube in response to the signal from the load cell.

The connecting pipes include a first water line positioned in an opening of the first port in a direction different from the longitudinal axis of the water tank, and a second water line positioned in an opening of the second port.
