A shelf assembly for an appliance includes a shelf support operably coupled with a cabinet liner. First and second supports are positioned below the shelf support. The first and second supports are positioned on opposing sidewalls of the cabinet liner. A rear shelf portion is slidably supported on the shelf support between rearward and forward positions. A front shelf portion is positioned adjacent to the rear shelf portion and is movable between a raised position and a lowered position. A plurality of rotatable arms are configured to support the front shelf portion. Each rotatable arm of the plurality of rotatable arms is operably coupled with one of the first and second supports at a first end and is further operably coupled with the front shelf portion at a second end. A connecting arm interconnects the rear shelf portion and the front shelf portion.

A support assembly includes a support surface configured to selectively transition between a stowed position, a deployed position, and an intermediate position defined between the stowed position and the deployed position. A retention feature is operably coupled to the support surface and is configured to transition the support surface between the stowed position and the deployed position. The retention feature includes a projection about which the support surface pivots to define a pivot axis. A bracket is coupled to the support surface and is configured to distribute a load along the support assembly in the intermediate position and the deployed position.

Storage systems for use in consumer appliances are provided. Storage system can be a storage assembly defining a vertical direction, a lateral direction, and a transverse direction, the vertical, lateral, and transverse directions being mutually perpendicular. The storage assembly includes a mounting bracket, a first mounting tab and a second mounting tab extending in the transverse direction from a first end of the mounting bracket. The first mounting tab and the second mounting tab are configured to be inserted into a mounting track disposed within the consumer appliance. The storage assembly also includes a storage receptacle which is supported at a second end of the mounting bracket.

A smart refrigerator assembly includes a refrigerator to facilitate storage of perishable items. Each of a pair of carousels is rotatably integrated into the refrigerator to support perishable food items. Each of a pair of doors is hingedly coupled to the refrigerator for opening and closing the refrigerator. Each of the doors is constructed of an electrochromic material to facilitate the doors to be alternatively opaque or translucent. A pull down refrigerator shelf for a storage compartment of a refrigerator, the pull down refrigerator shelf may include a rear shelf plate; a front shelf plate disposed in front of the rear shelf plate and configured to be selectively positioned on a same plane as the rear shelf plate or below the rear shelf plate; and a shelf sliding and lowering mechanism disposed under the rear shelf plate and the front shelf plate and configured to allow the rear shelf plate and the front shelf plate to slide integrally, the shelf sliding and lowering mechanism configured to allow the front shelf plate to lower relative to the rear shelf plate while maintaining a horizontal state.

Disclosed is a biological sample storage and retrieval apparatus, comprising a storage device, with the interior thereof being a cryogenic environment for storing a biological sample, and the biological sample comprising cryogenic vials and a cryogenic shelf for holding the cryogenic vials; an operation device detachably connected to the storage device for receiving a transfer tank for holding the biological sample and performing storage and retrieval of the biological sample in the storage device by means of the transfer tank; and a sealing device, the sealing device being used for sealing the storage device when the storage device is detached from the operation device. The shelf system constituting the refrigerator according to the present disclosure includes a shelf on which food is placed, a frame which supports the shelf and is detachably attached to a main body of the refrigerator; multiple links provided on one side of the shelf and configured to support the shelf such that the shelf moves forward/backward or upward/downward or is rotatable; and a guide hole which is formed in the frame and controls a trajectory along which at least one link of the multiple links moves, wherein a rotation center shaft of at least one link of the multiple links moves when the shelf moves.

Here, the folding guide device includes a slider pressurized by the door and linearly moved, and a conversion outputter provided to connect the slider with the support and configured to convert a linear force input by the slider that linearly moves into a rotational force for changing the position of the support and output the rotational force.
