A refrigeration cycle apparatus includes low-pressure side pressure detecting means for detecting the pressure of a refrigerant being sucked by a compressor, suction refrigerant temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of the refrigerant being sucked by the compressor, frequency detecting means for detecting the operation frequency of the compressor, cooling target fluid inflow temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of a cooling target fluid flowing in an evaporator, cooling target fluid outflow temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of the cooling target fluid flowing out of the evaporator, and flow rate calculating means (measuring unit, computing unit, and storage unit) for calculating the absolute quantity of the flow rate of the cooling target fluid flowing in the evaporator using a value detected by each detecting means.

Some embodiments provide systems to limit temperature changes, comprising: an evaporative product cooling system comprising: a product cavity that supports a product while the product is transported to a delivery location, wherein the product cooling system comprises an interior wall defining the product cavity, an exterior wall, an evaporative cavity between the interior and exterior walls, a coolant dispensing system, at least one evaporative opening, and a temperature sensor; and a temperature control circuit configured to receive temperature data from the temperature sensor while the product is in transit, determine that a temperature of the product is greater than a transport temperature threshold, and autonomously activate the coolant dispensing system to release evaporative coolant into the evaporative cavity while the product is transported.

The system has a refrigeration unit containing one or more food products, a temperature sensor disposed in the refrigeration unit. The temperature sensor is in communication with a remote computing device that is configured to calculate thermal data pertaining to said one or more food products. The remote computing device in communication with a temperature monitor that receives real-time temperature information from the temperature sensor. The monitor includes an alarm function that is activated if temperature inside said refrigeration unit causes a rise of the actual product temperature above a specified threshold such as 41° F. while noting the time remaining to return the product temperature to a safe level within the government specified 4 hour limit.
