ROBUST RECOVERY OF NATURAL GAS LETDOWN ENERGY FOR SMALL SCALE LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
A method for liquefaction of natural gas using refrigeration from a combination of sources including a refrigeration cycle and letdown energy of natural gas is provided. The natural gas to be liquefied (LNG) is boosted in pressure using a booster that is powered by expansion of a portion of the natural gas flow from the booster through a first natural gas turbine. A second flow of natural gas is expanded in a second natural gas turbine, and the resulting expanded stream, along with the natural gas expanded in the first natural gas turbine, are warmed against the natural gas to be liquefied. The flow rate of the natural gas in the second natural gas turbine is decoupled from the booster, thereby allowing for variation in flow rates and pressures while maintaining a constant production of LNG.

The invention relates to an installation for producing liquefied gas comprising a circuit for supplying feed gas, a set of heat exchangers, a refrigerator for cooling some or all of the set of heat exchangers, the supply circuit comprising, between the set of heat exchangers and the downstream end thereof, a final expansion turbine for expanding the feed gas in liquid state, the supply circuit comprising a bypass line of the final expansion turbine fitted with a first expansion valve, a second expansion valve disposed in series upstream or downstream of the first expansion valve and of the final expansion turbine, an additional heat exchange line designed to exchange heat with a heat exchanger of the set of heat exchangers when the feed gas is expanded by the first expansion valve via the bypass line, the additional heat exchange line carrying out this heat exchange with said heat exchanger between the expansion carried out by the first expansion valve and the expansion carried out by the second expansion valve, the additional heat exchange line being located upstream or respectively downstream of the expansion carried out by the first expansion valve.
Method and device for generating electrical energy
A method and device for generating electrical energy in a combined system of power plant, cold storage system and air compression system. The air compression system has a primary air compressor for generating a primary compressed air flow at a first pressure level. The power plant has a combustion unit which operates at a second pressure level and generates a combustion gas from which electrical energy is generated. The cold storage system has means for generating cold from compressed air, means for storing cold thus produced and means for generating a compressed air flow at the second pressure level using the stored cold. In a first operating mode (charging mode), a first compressed air flow is introduced from the air compression system into the cold storage system to charge the cold reservoir. In a second operating mode (discharging mode), the first compressed air flow generated in the primary air compressor, is introduced into the cold storage system to discharge the cold reservoir and to generate a third compressed air flow at the second pressure level, which is introduced into the combustion unit. The air compression system has a first booster for boosting compressed air compressed in the primary air compressor to the second pressure level. In a third operating mode (normal mode), the entire primary compressed air flow generated in the primary air compressor is boosted in the first booster to the second compressed air level and introduced into the combustion unit.
