Operation of natural gas liquids stabilizer column

A method for improved operation of a natural gas liquids stabilizer column, particularly a small-scale, is provided. The method can include the steps of: introducing a first feed stream comprising heavy hydrocarbons and natural gas to a stabilizer column to produce a top gas and a bottoms liquid, wherein the top gas has a higher concentration of natural gas as compared to the first feed stream, and the bottoms liquid has a higher concentration of heavy hydrocarbons as compared to the first feed stream; introducing a second feed stream into the stabilizer column, wherein the second feed stream has a higher concentration of natural gas as compared to the first feed stream, wherein the second feed stream is at a warmer temperature than the first feed stream when introduced into the stabilizer column, wherein the second feed stream is a gaseous stream; withdrawing the top gas from a top portion of the stabilizer column; withdrawing the bottoms liquid from a bottom portion of the stabilizer column; and sending at least a portion of the bottoms liquid to a liquid storage tank.

Process integration for natural gas liquid recovery

This specification relates to operating industrial facilities, for example, crude oil refining facilities or other industrial facilities that include operating plants that process natural gas or recover natural gas liquids.

DYNAMIC LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM IN PROPANE HEAT EXCHANGERS

Systems and processes for detecting leaks into a refrigeration system having a heat exchanger where the process side is configured to operate at a higher pressure than the refrigerant side. The system includes a refrigerant circulation system including a refrigerant feed pipe fluidly connected to and configured to provide a refrigerant to an inlet of the refrigerant side of the heat exchanger, as well as a refrigerant effluent pipe fluidly connected to and configured to receive a refrigerant from an outlet of the refrigerant side of the heat exchanger. One or more sensors are provided, the sensors being configured to measure a property of the refrigerant, such as temperature, pressure, or flow rate, for example. Additionally, the system for detecting leaks includes a digital control system configured to provide an alert when a signal from at least one of the one or more sensors is indicative of a leak from the process side of the heat exchanger to the refrigerant side of the heat exchanger.

Method and system for storage and transport of liquefied petroleum gases

A method for storage and transport of LPG on LPG carriers, in particular two cargoes of different LPG types on same shipment, having reliquefaction units in which vaporized gases are condensed and then returned into at least one cargo tank for the respective LPG cargo type. The method is further comprising: using the reliquefaction units, at a minimum one running, as to condense vapour from the first cargo type; passing the condensed vapour through a heat exchanger; simultaneously flowing vapour from the second cargo type through the heat exchanger as to condense vapour by means of heat exchanging with the condensed vapour; and returning the condensed vapours leaving the heat exchanger back into the respective cargo types. The present invention is also disclosing a system for storage and transport of LPG on LPG carriers.

Method and System for Efficient Nonsynchronous LNG Production using Large Scale Multi-Shaft Gas Turbines

A drive system for liquefied natural gas (LNG) refrigeration compressors in a LNG liquefaction plant. Each of three refrigeration compression strings include refrigeration compressors and a multi-shaft gas turbine capable of non-synchronous operation. The multi-shaft gas turbine is operationally connected to the refrigeration compressors and is configured to drive the one or more refrigeration compressors. The multi-shaft gas turbine uses its inherent speed turndown range to start the one or more refrigeration compressors from rest, bring the one or more refrigeration compressors up to an operating rotational speed, and adjust compressor operating points to maximize efficiency of the one or more refrigeration compressors, without assistance from electrical motors with drive-through capability and variable frequency drives.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SEPARATING A FEED FLOW
20230266060 · 2023-08-24 ·

A method and a system for separating a feed flow which contains at least hydrogen and a hydrocarbon with three or four carbon atoms per molecule, in particular propane, propylene, propadiene, butane, 1-butene, 2-butene, and/or 1,3-butadiene. The condensed feed flow is cooled over multiple cooling steps in at least two heat exchangers and is then separated into a condensate and a residual gas flow after each cooling step. The at least two heat exchangers are operated at least two different temperature levels, wherein a hot heat exchanger is operated at an average temperature level, and a cold heat exchanger is operated at a lower temperature level. An internal refrigerant which is made of a part of one of the condensate flows and a part of one of the residual gas flows, is used to dispense a part of the heat from the cold heat exchanger.
