A heat exchanger receives and partially condenses the primary vapor stream so that a mixed phase primary stream is formed. A secondary separation device receives and separates the mixed phase primary stream into a secondary vapor stream and a secondary liquid product stream. A heat exchanger receives and warms the secondary vapor stream to provide refrigeration for partially condensing the effluent fluid stream and a heat exchanger receives and warms the secondary vapor stream to provide refrigeration for partially condensing the primary vapor stream. A mixed refrigerant compression system provides refrigerant to a heat exchanger to provide refrigeration.

Pretreatment and pre-cooling of natural gas by high pressure compression and expansion

A method and apparatus for producing liquefied natural gas. A pretreated natural gas stream is compressed in at least two serially arranged compressors to a pressure of at least 1,500 psia and cooled. The resultant cooled compressed natural gas stream is expanded in at least one work producing natural gas expander to a pressure less than 2,000 psia and no greater than the pressure to which natural gas stream has been compressed, thereby forming a chilled natural gas stream that is separated into a refrigerant stream and a non-refrigerant stream. The refrigerant stream is warmed in a heat exchanger through heat exchange with one or more process streams associated with pretreating the natural gas stream, thereby generating a warmed refrigerant stream. The warmed refrigerant stream and the non-refrigerant stream are then liquefied.

The main heat exchanger also receives, warms and partially vaporizes the primary liquid stream. A mixed refrigerant compression system also provides refrigeration in the main heat exchanger.

A method for processing a gas mixture containing nitrogen and methane, the gas mixture being at least partly liquefied using a mixed refrigerant circuit and is expanded in a storage tank, wherein: formed in the storage tank are a liquid phase, which is depleted in nitrogen and enriched with methane relative to the gas mixture, and a vapour phase, which is enriched with nitrogen and depleted in methane relative to the gas mixture; at least some of the vapour phase is compressed, at least partly liquefied, and subjected to low-temperature rectification; and formed in the low-temperature rectification are a top gas rich in nitrogen and lean in methane, and a bottom liquid lean in nitrogen and rich in methane. The invention provides that the partial liquefaction of the vapour phase is caused by cooling by means of heat exchange using the mixed refrigerant circuit.

A process and apparatus reboil a propylene splitter bottoms by heat exchange and/or a deethanizer bottoms stream with a compressed propylene splitter overhead stream. Use of single splitter compressor and operation of the propane-propylene splitter column at lower pressure are enabled, whereas conventionally two splitter compressors and higher splitter pressure were necessary to provide a propylene product stream and a propane recycle stream of equivalent quality.

An apparatus for thermal exhaust gas purification includes at least one thermal reactor to which a raw gas to be purified is supplied and in which the supplied raw gas is thermally purified, and an energy recovery apparatus to which a gas purified in the thermal reactor is supplied via at least one outlet line. For improving the balance of energy, it is proposed that the energy recovery apparatus includes at least one condensation heat exchanger in which the purified gas is cooled down such that condensable substances contained in the purified gas condense, and enthalpies released thereby are transmitted to a heat exchange medium and/or the raw gas upstream of the thermal reactor.
