In a process for separating carbon dioxide from a waste gas (3) of a fluid bed catalytic cracking installation (1) containing carbon dioxide, nitrogen and possibly carbon monoxide, the waste gas (3) is separated by adsorption to form a gas enriched in carbon dioxide and depleted in nitrogen (29) and a gas rich in nitrogen and depleted in carbon dioxide (31), and at least a portion of the gas enriched in carbon dioxide and depleted in nitrogen is separated in a separation device (30) by way of separation at a temperature of less than 0° C. by partial condensation and/or by distillation to form a fluid rich in carbon dioxide (35) and a fluid depleted in carbon dioxide (37).
CO2 separation and liquefaction system and method
A CO2 separation and liquefaction system such as might be used in a carbon capture and sequestration system for a fossil fuel burning power plant is disclosed. The CO2 separation and liquefaction system includes a first cooling stage to cool flue gas with liquid CO2, a compression stage coupled to the first cooling stage to compress the cooled flue gas, a second cooling stage coupled to the compression stage and the first cooling stage to cool the compressed flue gas with a CO2 melt and provide the liquid CO2 to the first cooling stage, and an expansion stage coupled to the second cooling stage to extract solid CO2 from the flue gas that melts in the second cooling stage to provide the liquid CO2.
REFRIGERANT AND NITROGEN RECOVERY
Systems, devices, and methods for recovering mixed refrigerant and/or nitrogen within liquefaction systems are provided. The systems, devices, and methods facilitate recovering mixed refrigerant (MR) and/or nitrogen vapor that can leak from a compressor, separating the MR from the nitrogen, and reusing the MR and/or the nitrogen within the liquefaction system. Recovering and reusing MR and/or nitrogen can minimize loss of MR and nitrogen which can lower the total operating cost of a liquefaction system. Additionally, recovering the MR, rather than burning it, can reduce environmental emissions by reducing the amount of MR that is burned.
Method and device for oxygen production by low-temperature separation of air at variable energy consumption
A method and device to produce oxygen by the low-temperature separation of air at variable energy consumption. A distillation column system comprises a high-pressure column, a low-pressure column and a main condenser, a secondary condenser and a supplementary condenser. Gaseous nitrogen from the high-pressure column is liquefied in the main condenser in indirect heat exchange with an intermediate liquid from the low-pressure column. A first liquid oxygen stream from the bottom of the low-pressure column is evaporated in the secondary condenser in indirect heat exchange with feed air to obtain a gaseous oxygen product. The supplementary condenser serves as a bottom heating device for the low-pressure column and is heated by means of a first nitrogen stream from the distillation column system, which nitrogen stream was compressed previously in a cold compressor.
Integrated Nitrogen Removal in the Production of Liquefied Natural Gas Using Intermediate Feed Gas Separation
A method and apparatus for liquefying a natural gas feed stream and removing nitrogen therefrom to produce a nitrogen-depleted LNG product, in which a natural gas feed stream is fed into the warm end of a main heat exchanger, cooled and at least partially liquefied, withdrawn from an intermediate location of the main heat exchanger and separated to form a nitrogen-enriched natural gas vapor stream and a nitrogen-depleted natural gas liquid stream, the liquid and vapor streams being reintroduced into an intermediate location of the main heat exchanger and further cooled in parallel to form a first LNG stream and a first at least partially liquefied nitrogen-enriched natural gas stream, respectively.
METHOD FOR THE CAPTURE OF CARBON DIOXIDE THROUGH CRYOGENICALLY PROCESSING GASEOUS EMISSIONS FROM FOSSIL-FUEL POWER GENERATION
A cryogenic method for capturing carbon dioxide in the gaseous emissions produced from the fossil-energy combustion of solid, liquid, or gaseous fossil fuels in a power generation installation employing an OxyFuel mode of combustion. The method includes: producing essentially pure carbon dioxide under elevated pressure and at near ambient temperatures in a Carbon-Dioxide Capture Component from the carbon-dioxide content of at least a part of the gaseous emissions produced from fossil-energy fueled combustion in the Oxyfuel mode of combustion; separating atmospheric air in an Air Separation Component into a stream of liquid nitrogen and a stream of high-purity oxygen; supplying low temperature, compressed purified air to a cryogenic air separation unit (cold box) within the Air Separation Component; collecting low temperature thermal energy from coolers employed within the Carbon-Dioxide Capture Component and the Air Separation Component; and converting the collected thermal energy to electricity within a Thermal-Energy Conversion Component.
Nitrogen production method and nitrogen production apparatus
A portion of feed air is expanded and cooled in front of a main heat exchanger, and is used as cold for precooling the remaining unexpanded feed air inside the main heat exchanger. A portion of the feed air precooled inside the main heat exchanger is removed to outside the main heat exchanger, expanded and cooled, and used as cold to cool the remaining unexpanded precooled feed air inside the main heat exchanger.
CO2 SEPARATION & LIQUEFACTION SYSTEM AND METHOD
Atmospheric Water Harvester with Cryogenic System
An atmospheric water harvesting system includes a water-harvesting unit with an air mover and a heat exchanger. The water-harvesting unit may also include one or more screens on which water can condense. The water-harvesting unit is supplied by a coolant pathway, in which a non-cryogenic fluid coolant flows. A cryogenic cell is in the coolant pathway. The cryogenic cell receives the fluid coolant and removes heat from it by causing or allowing a controlled heat transfer between the fluid coolant and a first cryogen sealed within an inner vessel in the cryogenic cell. The coolant may be a liquid at operating temperatures, and the cryogenic cell may cool it to an appropriate temperature without a phase change, essentially acting as a “cold battery” to remove heat from the coolant.
