The crucible has a body configured for receipt of an amorphous alloy material in a vertical direction, and the rod extends in a horizontal direction from the body. The body of the crucible and the rod are formed from silica or quartz. The rod may be fused to the body of the crucible and provided off a center axis so that pouring molten material is improved when the crucible is rotated.

Melting device for consolidating contaminated scrap

A mobile melting device for consolidating contaminated scrap and to a corresponding method. The melting device has a crucible chamber and a crucible base. The crucible is arranged on the crucible base during operation, and the crucible base and the crucible chamber together form a gas-tight furnace housing. It is thus possible to carry out the method in a vacuum or under protective gas such that even a reactive material can be consolidated. The melting device can be assembled and disassembled with little effort.

MOLYBDENUM-LINED CRUCIBLE

A crucible used for forming ceramic particles from metal oxide gel particles includes a tubular graphite housing having an open end, an inner surface, and a seat in the inner surface near the open end. A sleeve lines the inner surface of the tubular housing. The sleeve has at an open end and is formed from a metal which is chemically inert to the metal oxide gel particles. A graphite outer cap removably covers the open end of the tubular housing. An inner cap formed from the chemically inert metal fits into the seat in the inner surface of the tubular housing, and is pressed into the seat against the open end of the sleeve by the outer cap. The crucible may be used for forming ceramic particles from uranium oxide gel particles, and the sleeve and the inner cap may be formed from molybdenum, tungsten, or an alloy thereof.

Melting furnace

A melting furnace is provided, that may contain a furnace shell, a furnace shell moving mechanism that supports the furnace shell so as to be movable on an installation surface, a pipe or a wiring that has one end fixed to the furnace shell and has at least partially, a flexible portion, and a stand. The stand may contain a supporting part that supports a halfway portion of the pipe or the wiring, and a stand moving part that is coupled to the supporting part and moves the supporting part on an installation surface in synchronization with movement of the furnace shell, in which the stand is mounted on the installation surface so as to be movable up and down with respect to the furnace shell.
