Dynamic cooling of a metallurgical furnace
One embodiment is a cooling system for regulating temperature of a surface of a metallurgical furnace. The cooling system includes a plurality of spray conduits. Each spray conduit has one or more control valves and has a plurality of nozzles. A plurality of temperature sensors are disposed proximate the surface of the metallurgical furnace. A control system adjusts the control valves of the plurality of spray conduits in response to temperature information derived from the plurality of temperature sensors.

Cooling plate for metallurgical furnace
A cooling plate for a metallurgical furnace including a body with a front face and an opposite rear face, the body having at least one cooling channel therein having an opening in the rear face and a coolant feed pipe is connected to the rear face of the cooling panel and is in fluid communication with the cooling channel, where in use, the front face is turned towards a furnace interior, and at least one emergency cooling tube is arranged within the cooling channel, the emergency cooling tube having a cross-section smaller than a cross-section of the cooling channel, the emergency cooling tube has an end section with connection means for connecting an emergency feed pipe thereto, and in an emergency operation, the emergency cooling tube is physically connected to an emergency feed pipe via the connection means; while, in a normal operation, the connection means of the emergency cooling tube is physically disconnected from the emergency feed pipe. The invention also concerns the use of such a cooling plate.

Apparatus and method for preparing carbon black
Disclosed are apparatus and method for preparing carbon black, in which the carbon black may be continuously formed and activated. In one embodiment, carbon black powders formed in a combustion reactor are converted into a slurry which in turn is refluxed to the combustion reactor in a repeated manner, thereby to allow successive activation treatments. In this way, a sufficient residence time for the activation of the carbon black may be secured.

REGENERATIVE COOLING METHOD AND APPARATUS
A method of cooling a liner in a plasma chamber. A recycle gas is contacted with or passed through the liner to cool the liner and pre-heat the recycle gas. The pre-heated gas is then recycled through the plasma chamber to become part of the plasma forming process. The method further comprises the liner is graphite, the recycle gas passes through at least one cooling channel present in the liner, at least one of the cooling channels are covered with at least one removable liner/channel cover, carbon deposits are formed from the presence of hydrocarbons in the recycle gas, at least one channel is formed in a spiral cooling channel pattern, at least one channel is formed in a substantially straight cooling channel pattern, and a plenum to aid in the production of an even distribution of cooling gas in the channels.

COOLING PLATE FOR A METALLURGICAL FURNACE
A metallurgical furnace cooling plate includes a cooling plate body with front and rear faces and at least one coolant channel inside the body, which communicates with a rear opening on the rear face; and a connection pipe connected to the body so that a pipe channel of the connection pipe communicates with the coolant channel, the connection pipe adapted for carrying coolant fluid to or from the channel.
The body includes a receiving bore extending in a bore direction from the rear opening into the coolant channel, the channel being spaced in the bore direction from the rear face by a cover thickness of a cover portion and extends in the bore direction over a width. A connection pipe end portion extends into the receiving bore beyond the cover thickness and is form-fittingly received in the receiving bore along at least a portion of a width of the channel.
