SMART MOLTEN METAL PUMP

A smart molten metal pump system and method automatically controls the operating speed of the pump rather than requiring an operator to control the speed. The system includes a pump, a controller for controlling the speed of the pump and one or more vibration sensors (such as an accelerometer) to measure vibration. The controller receives input about the vibration of the pump or one or more pump components, and possibly other data, such as the temperature of the molten metal, and/or the depth of the molten metal, ad/or parameters related to the operation of the pump. The controller analyzes the one or more inputs to vary the speed of the pump, turn the pump off, and/or send a communication to an operator.

MOLTEN METAL TRANSFER SYSTEM AND METHOD

A system according to aspects of the invention includes a pump and a refractory casing that houses the pump or is in fluid communication with the pump. As the pump operates it moves molten metal upward through an uptake section of the casing until it reaches a rectangular outlet wherein it exits the vessel. The rectangular outlet is configured to be connected to, or may be attached to, a launder. Another system uses a wall to divide a cavity of the chamber into two portions. The wall has an opening and a pump pumps molten metal from a first portion into a second portion until the level in the second portion reaches an outlet and exits the vessel.

MOLTEN METAL TRANSFER DEVICE

A device includes a molten metal pump and a metal-transfer conduit. A clamp may be used to attach the metal-transfer conduit to the pump. The pump has a pump base including an indentation configured to receive the metal-transfer conduit and align the pump outlet with the transfer inlet. The pump outlet may be formed in the indentation and preferably near the center of the indentation in order to better align with the transfer inlet. As the pump operates it moves molten metal through a pump outlet that is in communication with a transfer inlet in the metal-transfer conduit. The molten metal enters the transfer inlet, moves upwards in a passage in the metal-transfer conduit, and out of a transfer outlet.

Scrap submergence device

A molten metal scrap submergence system comprising a furnace and a vortexing scrap submergence well. The vortexing scrap submergence well includes a diverter suspended above the well and oriented for immersion in a bath of molten metal circulating within the well. The system, or an alternative scrap submergence system, can include a hood element disposed in an overlapping position with regard to a top opening of the scrap submergence well. The hood at least substantially seals the top opening. The hood element includes a scrap piece feed chute and a burner allowing carbon containing vapor evaporated from the surface of the molten scrap pieces to combust and form predominantly water. The system, or an alternative scrap submergence system can include internal side walls of the well with a first diameter portion adjacent and above said ramp and a second, larger diameter portion above said first portion.

MULTI-PURPOSE PUMP SYSTEM FOR A METAL FURNACE AND RELATED METHODS

A pump system for a metal furnace includes a tank and a magnetic stirrer. The tank includes a tank chamber that is configured to receive a fluid, such as a molten material. The tank is positioned above magnetic stirrer and such that the magnetic stirrer is outside of the tank chamber. The magnetic stirrer includes a rotating permanent magnet configured to generate a moving magnetic field in the molten material in the tank chamber that induces movement in the molten material.

Aluminum Alloy Material Smelting Device

The disclosure discloses an aluminum alloy material smelting device, comprising a furnace, a cutter packing device with a stirring shaft, a packing basket, a cutter-type stirring head, the stirring shaft connected with the packing basket, the bottom of the packing basket connected with a cutter-type stirring head, the cutter-type stirring head comprising a plurality of stirring blades, one end of the stirring blades connected with the bottom of the packing basket, the other end connected with each other on the central axis of the packing basket, and the side wall of the packing basket provided with a liquid passage hole to form liquid exchange with the solution outside the packing basket; the rotation of the cutter-type stirring head forming a solution vortex to accelerate the diffusion of added elements, and the vortex only formed under the stirring head, which will not damage the covering film formed on the surface of aluminum alloy, effectively prevent the scum on the surface from being involved in the solution again, thereby ensuring the consistency of the properties and chemical composition of the prepared aluminum alloy material, and reducing the influence of aluminum alloy scum on the solution.

A system and method for transferring molten metal from a vessel and into one or more of a ladle, ingot mold, launder, feed die cast machine or other structure is disclosed. The system includes at least a vessel for containing molten metal, an overflow (or dividing) wall, and a device or structure, such as a molten metal pump, for generating a stream of molten metal. The dividing wall divides the vessel into a first chamber and a second chamber, wherein part of the second chamber has a height H2. The device for generating a stream of molten metal, which is preferably a molten metal pump, is preferably positioned in the first chamber. When the device operates, it generates a stream of molten metal from the first chamber and into the second chamber. When the level of molten metal in the second chamber exceeds H2, molten metal flows out of the vessel and into another structure, such as into one or more ladles and/or one or more launders.

ADVANCED MATERIAL FOR MOLTEN METAL PROCESSING EQUIPMENT

A molten metal processing apparatus selected from a pump, a degasser, a flux injector, and a scrap submergence device constructed to include at least one element comprised of C/C composite.

Method for melting solid metal

A scrap melting system and method includes a vessel that is configured to retain molten metal and a raised surface about the level of molten metal in the vessel. Solid metal is placed on the raised surface and molten metal from the vessel is moved upward from the vessel and across the raised surface to melt at least some of the solid metal. The molten metal is preferably raised from the vessel to the raised surface by a molten metal pumping device or system. The molten metal moves from the raised surface and into a vessel or launder.
